i spent half the day outside with 2 of my kiddos, and the puppy.. then after my son went back to his dads house i watched my youngest daughter pick dandelions, blow them around the yard.. so even though i do not have any chickens yet, my children will give them plenty dandelions. Then my husband, our youngest, and our dog all went to the park with some family and played disc golf. before all that it was cleaning the house... it was a pretty relaxing day all in all.
I actually had 3 rotaitions over my house that day I was worried about them coop floor and runs were flooded and she followed them up to the roost and was just fine my jer. giants ameracunas and her are about 9 weeks old and seem to be fine with the 30-40 degree nights without heat lamp and I have it a decent amount away from them to where it wont over heat them and since they are big birds im thinking they don't need it so I keep it on marans if its under 40 degrees the marans are about 6 weeks old ive had all the older birds outside since they were 6 weeks old getting use to Oklahoma since they came from my cousin in texas where it was much warmer. good luck with yours they should do just fine
I like the silkie but I have really became found of the jersey gians and maransBuilt a new raised garden bed today along the west side of the new chicken pen. Hoping to grow winter squash and melons to climb the fence and provide some shade to the girls. Also harvested celery, admired my new tomato, and watered everything very well. Going to pick up a new Silkie tomorrow. Here's a couple of pics.
