***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Anyone here from Lawton? Need advice on the permit and what it takes to get one.

$25 fee. You can have up to 12 chickens. Your structure must be at least 25 feet from the nearest neighboring dwelling (not property line) but it can be closer to your own home, and it has to have good drainage, whatever that means. You have to get your setup ready, then contact animal control at (580) 581-3218 to have it inspected to make sure it meets the city's guidelines before you bring in your birds.

Just finished NPIP testing. Catching & putting all our birds in cages, then catching them all again was exhausting & there was 4 of us! 2 guinea hens are way battered & bruised from trying so hard to get out of the cage. I had guinea blood all over me. Sometimes those birds really make me want to bang my head on the side of the cage too.

Now we are heading down to the garden. Going to cover 200+ tomato plants...... The weather is not agreeing with the OSU planting guide. I planted mostly tomatoes that are suppose to be heat tolerant, wondering if it will be hot before it is time for them to set fruit.

Buster - good to see you posting. Hope you are doing well.

We cleaned out the leaves, twigs and shingle scatter from the gutters this morning. while the boys hosed out the last of the small debris, i decided to pick up the last of the chimney pieces i had set aside for flower pots when we dismantled the chimney after the earthquakes. Picked up a heavy clay chimney liner and it literally fell apart just as I got it hoisted to 3 feet off the ground...and a big piece landed on my big toe. Fortunately there was a chair right behind me so I could sit down and elevate my foot until the throbbing and stars stopped. Don't think it is broken, but I may lose the toenail. Good thing I was wearing shoes ...if you can call Crocs shoes...and that this was the shortest chimney piece.

So looking forward to a reduced feed bill after POOPS and the NewCastle auction...I estimate I'm bringing about 100 young birds. Some are clean legged single combed layer replacements and the rest are Wyandotte and Cochin...ranging in age from 2 - 12 weeks of age.

Kass - Love the new baby pictures!

Robin - Looking forward to POOPS : )

One of my broodies surprised me with her babies today. That means my two other broodie hens ought to see chicks tomorrow or Thursday.

This Cornish sat on a dozen eggs, and it looks like ten hatched. I'm going to have to check the nest tomorrow, to be sure, but today she wouldn't let me get close enough to get a good count. Look at all those red heads!

too darn cute!!!

has anyone been watching to see what the weather will be??

Jcat, Can you and the girls make a vinyl of this Cochin roo or does the design have to be a silhouette?
A silhouette works best, my machine will make a cut anywhere here is a line. Someone who is savy with editing software can maybe color it in then I can cut it. (Hopefully). Buster I pray for wisdom for your daughters doctors & your family.
