it generally takes 24-48 hours, can you hear them chirping?

Right after I posted this morning the first one to pip knocked a little more shell out and has been rocking and rolling since then. She chirped a little too so least I know she is still alive. I was getting worried. Everything was calibrated before I put them in the hatcher and everything looked great up to that point. 4 of the 6 spitzhaubens have pipped but no cochins or japanese bantams yet. Tomorrow is day 21 so hopefully the rest will pip by then.

I have one egg that pipped 24 hours ago and no progress since then. 2 eggs that pipped last night and no progress on them either and one that pipped sometime during the night. I don't know what to do about the first eggs. I don't want to ruin the other eggs that have pipped by opening the incubator and I have 17 more eggs waiting to pip. My temp and humidity are good. I'm just not sure how or if I screwed this up. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am pretty quick to help a chick if I see pipping and no more advancement, but that is b/c mine tend to shrink wrap, I don't know why it is I use a brinsea and fill it w/ water for hatch and was militant about lock down on my first hatch only to have many die from being shrink wrapped, so now I watch and if I don't see advancement I take them out and help carefully w/ the shell and wrapping, every time I've helped they were in fact needing help and would have died w/o it. My last hatch I only lost one during hatch and would have lost upwards of 15 or more if I didn't help. If you do help you need to do it carefully, I always help them in my bathroom w/ the heater on and the shower having hot water so it is hot and steamy in the room. I use warm water and a Qtip to moisten the shrink dried membrane to remove it very carefully, you will have some blood but to much is deadly. In the end it is your gut feeling and your knowledge of your incubator.

the other thing i do, is to gently enlarge the crack some so they still have to push up themselves but gives them a little easier time, its really important for them to kick out themselves- kass, on the brinsea, when they go into lockdown and i put the paper towel in, i wet the towel, just to be on the safe side

Three of my spitzhauben eggs have pipped so far. Hopefully I will have little chickies running around in the morning. I am going to try not to stay up all night checking on them.

We can't wait for pics of your new babies. We had a great time at POOPS. Got to talk with alot of you and I got some of Jack's Wheaton Marans. WooHoo. Have really been wanting some of his Marans. So this is a start. Had hoped someone from BYC would have wanted our red cochins. Oh well, had to sell them at the auction. Didn't get what we wanted, but they sold.

Everyone involved did a great job with POOPS! I know it was a lot of hard work, but everything went well and there was a really good turnout. The best part of POOPS is getting to see friends and make new ones. I'm happy my babes went to CEOKA and to Scoots, as I'm sure they'll get good treatment. Loved hearing CEOKA's plans for them. Also loved hearing about some I've sold earlier. So many good stories!

Never get to get around to see and meet everyone I want to, but got to talk to quite a few. Vashi always enjoys POOPS as well, and he's wonderful support.

I have stopped using forced air incubators for hatching, because of the shrinkwrapping...I now use a still air and have had zero problems with sticking or shrinkwrapping. Just make sure your humidity is up.

I figured it was the fan that was doing it, I know the humidity was good but still have the issues. I have thought about getting a lesser expensive styrofoam one for hatching but then I wouldn't be able to look and see very well.
