***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Crap. Last thing. This is Butters: Can you guys tell me what breed she is? I got her from Orschelns (Easter egger bin). As a chick I thought white rock. Now I have no idea. I got a barred rock and speckled Sussex out of the same bin. :-/

If you get them from a hatchery you can ask for vaccination they usually charge about $1 per bird or so.

If you get from an auction usually not, but some people do vaccinate.

Worming is a whole can of worms, I would say research the topic then decide for yourself.

I've read some people say twice a year and others say only if they look like they are looking ill, so I've been trying to decide. I always prefer to be safe rather than sorry, but I also don't want any overkill.

This was on my FB thought I'd share w/ you guys.

My mind says this about animals in general.

This is the little baby I rescued this morning. I was able to observe mama bringing insects to the nest so my kids are now out bug hunting. I'm giving one drop of sugar water every ten minuted or so since it went a few hours with nothing before I could get it home. I suspect internal injuries due to a fifteen foot fall onto concrete and I'm surprised I even got it home alive. Any advice? Mama was small and black with white speckles on wings and tail.
i am thinking starling, but either way, mix up some cat or dog food to a mushy consistancy and get a straw and scoop a little up and give it to him that way- this is a pic of my pet starling zippy- maybe mama was a starling?? in the spring they have yellow beaks

Def, not a starling, but baby didn't make it. I really didn't expect it to but I had to try. My 9yo son is very upset about it :-(
i had a vet tell me after losing quite a few rescues, sometimes we are meant to give them a peaceful passing- and i have thought that many times since then, tell your son he was meant to comfort the little one-

I don't know what she is, but know she isn't an EE
