***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Picked up 2 Muscovy ducks today. I haven't had ducks since I was a young child.

Lost a turkey today. He was really raspy and wheezing this morning and we found him curled up in the house dead this afternoon. No one else seems to be having a problem so I have no idea what went wrong.

Also have a question. We put down a turkey this week because his leg was wonky and he was having trouble walking around. He was still eating and all. When we gutted him he was fine internally, his organs and meat looked great but his spine was twisted sideways. What might cause that? We didn't notice it til a couple weeks ago and they hatched in february.

Been on here a little while but never knew an Okie thread existed. Never dawned on me to search for one either. Glad I found it though!
Im in rural Claremore. We currently have 24 birds, 1 roo, 6 hens & 17 chicks in the grow out pen. 5 of which are definitely roos...
We have White Rocks, RIR's, A BO, BSL's & EE's.
so far.....
I want more, just dont let hubby hear that....

Found this pretty picture....LOL....come on rain. It's already rained pretty good at my house in Creek County earlier this morning. Looks going to be getting bit more.

Edit...dang...I just realize its moving south. The center of state is going to get a ton of rain. Too bad it was not moving east or west across the entire state.

Wonder if it a turkey version of spinal bifida from a low vit B (12 I think) in the female laying the egg?

This was posted on my FB and I thought it looked like a lot of fun for kids of all ages

1. Place hard surface underneath shirt to prevent bleeding

... 2.Use sharpies to create circular patterns on shirt

3. Once you have your desired design Drop alcohol onto circles

4. Wait for alcohol to completely dry.

5. Wash and then dry separately, as it will bleed a little.

This will be some much needed rain especially for the western part of the state. May not be much but it's still better than nothing. I don't recall the prediction for the southwestern parts but I am sure it is welcome there as dry as its been. I know I appreciate the cooler temps.
