I have been feeding my birds lots of tomatoes these days and they devour them like piranhas. Tonight I heard Ike, my roo over the flock of Miller Fleur hens that get to free range a little each day. He was loudly calling the girls to our our dog's toy - a round orange ball that is just a bit bigger than a tomato. Each girl took a couple of pecks at it before they gave up and left Ike by himself. He finally tried it himself and found out it wasn't as tender as most tomatoes.

My dog Sasha had to have leg surgery this past week too. But not as drastic as your poor guy. My girl cut her leg and severed a tendon, have no idea how. She got to come home though and is seriously not liking being bandaged.

lol, how funny

Sorry to hear about all the losses and rejoice for all the new chicks.

Had a CAT scan today because of some elevated blood work...elevated liver enzymes. Turns out if you don't have a gallbladder, you can still have stones ...just in the bile ducts of the liver. Fortunately this too shall pass.

Getting eggs from the pullets up to seven a day so far...so probably...12 laying.
Going to move all the juveniles still in the brooder room to the smaller outside pen in the morning. Then clean the brooder room. Will need to start moving the bantams too. One of the Black Rosecomb is still sitting on eggs and three LF are also...stubborn girls.

My new crower got a stay of execution tonight. I figured the shin high grass in the front yard was more important.

There sure is a drastic diff. in the number of grasshoppers in the back yard (where the chickens are) and the front yard!

i have a broodie i wish i had enough room to putt some eggs under her but my coupe is full
