***OKIES in the BYC III ***

i would almost suggest getting them on electrolytes and apple cider vinegar to build up their immune systems- on the roo, can you put some neosporin on that eye?

MJ, you are right, i'm gonna look at it closer tomorow in some programs i have- it bugs! LOL!

It's a big bird, but it looks more like a Gandalf and Frodo trick.. The bird isn't actually snug up against him, but farther away, the way they filmed the scene with Gandalf riding in the buggy with Frodo in The Fellowship of the Ring. I'm not sure how they pulled it off with the bird, but it looks cool. His pants, however, are photoshopped.

Scrapperval-good call on keeping him away from your others! It's probably one of the chronic diseases that they become carriers of (if they survive). They'll still make your other birds sick if you mix them with yours. If i knew 2 yrs ago what i know now and I were in your shoes-I would put down the new sick group. You'll never be able to comfortably mix them with your own. Then buy baby girl chicks from the hatchery from now on. That's my advice.

Hello all BYC lovers. I am new to chickens but looking over this forum I realize I have lots of folks to ask for advice. I am just outside Tulsa, near Sand Springs. So far I have been successful with 20 RIR pullets and 7 roosters. Everyone gets along well and little fussing and fighting. Made a newbie mistake and bought 4 very cute chickens from craigslist and they are sick. But thanks to all these post I knew enough NOT to put them with my original flock.
welcome

hey why give em apple cider vinegar? what does this do?

My buff Orpington rooster is doing better but he is still sleeping by himself on the floor of coop/house. do other roosters do this/ why is he not getting on roost? any ideas

Does anyone want close to a dozen Spitzhauben eggs I've gathered up the last few wks for free? I was going to set them and (Robin, this is your fault lol!) got to googling Oriental gamefowl because I do like them very much. I bid on some Oriental Burmese Game eggs (what even ARE those???) with 10 minutes left on the auction and won it by a penny-literally. I honestly never thought I'd win. So anyway-I'll set those instead. I've got enough chicks to take care of with what's fixing to hatch here as it is so I'm not going to set the Spitzhauben eggs but would hate for them to go to waste.
If no one here wants them I'll put an ad on Craigslist tonight in the hopes they won't just go to waste.

put them in the classified section, i am sure someone would be grateful for them- i am limitting any hatching to silkies- although i have one large mama that is still hoping her egg will hatch....
