Don. Good luck at the NewCastle show next weekend. So I guess the pillow fight wasn't as bad as you first thought if you washed 16 birds. We are enjoying the Bantam Delawares and the Buckeyes. One of the Buckeye pullets is exploring the nest box I put in their pen. The other Delaware rooster is helping a Black Rosecomb protect her two chicks. He calls them to food.

Ksane, I have Delaware eggs under broody hens and they are developing so the fertility test is positive.

I've been treating my Columbian Wyandotte rooster for pendulous crop for two weeks. Finally got the crop shrunk down to a more normal size with four controlled feedings a day. Sure hope Beau gets some more weight back on now that the digestive system is working smoothly again.
I have a couple of nice cockerels still needing to grow and fill out before I make final picks yr the breeders....would really like at least one to stand out like his sire.

I had a Black Cochin hen with pendulous crop. She finally lost too much weight. I was so disapointed to loose her. Hope Your Beau gets better.

I bought some eggs from somebody in Texas, wired the money through Paypal and told her, then waited on a confirmation. She didn't let me know she'd shipped them today until I just sent a message asking. I've never done this before, but shouldn't there be a tracking number? How long does it usually take? Most places won't deliver on Sunday, so the earliest I will get them is Monday, right?

Am I excited or nervous? I can't tell!

anyone that ships eggs with any kind of manners or professionalism will let you know when they ship and provide a tracking number so you know when to expect the eggs, so they aren't sitting at the PO for days. I would ask for one.

Takes 2-3 days usually for priority mail. Monday is a holiday, and they will not be open. Look for them Tuesday. I, myself, will ship on a Saturday, they will usually arrive on Monday, but with Monday being a holiday, I would have waited. I will not ship on a Thursday or Friday.

Kyz, I believe I've always gotten a tracking number also. The only 2 places I've ever bout eggs were Ebay and BYC.
Here's the 2 new babies who were 3 days late. I still can't believe I got *1*, much less 2.
I'm worn out from worrying about them. They're toddling all over just fine and trying to eat everything they see. I feel like I must've dne something really good to deserve to have them hatch There's chicks moving in 2 of the other eggs yet. I'll hope for the best and just be thankful for the 2 I got.

also wanted to add, that anyone that actually cares about the eggs they ship, when and how they arrive...will keep track as well. I always keep tracking numbers, follow them until they arrive, ask about the shape they were in and actually try to find out hatch rates ( I know it's a gamble, but still) . Some people will respond, some won't. Most people appreciate the concern.

They're ADORABLE! What wonderful surprises! Especially after believing the worst, what a roller coaster.

I got a tracking number from her and it was shipped today and due the 15th. It's like waiting for Christmas!

kyz, will probably turn out just fine, I am just saying that anyone that ships should have the common courtesy to contact the one that actually paid for the eggs and shipping and let them know what is happening and when, and a tracking number. And you being the one that paid, should demand it, if they do not.....Not everyone is like me, some could care less if their eggs arrive in a timely fashion, in tact or hatch....I do.

Ksane they are related, at this time we don't have a choice the gene pool is close there isn't enough of them around if I go back to Kanas ill try and get more same blood but not close. I never cross blood lines , just saying this works for me , outside cross seems to cause to many faults . Didn't really want to get rid of them but I knew the were going to a good place. I'll get more another time

Don, thank you so much for trusting me with your youngsters. By setting two pens, I hope to make two parallel breedings where I can selectively pair complementary birds for breeding. Even though they are from the same bloodline, I can then selectively pair offspring birds from each pen for later breeding. Several of the hens look like photo copies of each other so I'm making the assumption that they are true sisters. The roosters have enough difference in size, breadth and attitude that they could be half brothers or cousins. The hens that may be sisters have the same body type as the larger rooster leading me to believe they are possible siblings. So I will pair them with the smaller rooster and leave the smaller hens with the bigger rooster...hope that makes sense. Also two pens will keep the roosters separate...they both think they are 10 feet tall!
