***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Nanakat, I apologize. I was thinking Murphey (I don't even know the correct spelling that is how acquainted I am with my Oklahoma surroundings.

). My husband corrected me. I moved to Oklahoma in 95' from California so really I should know the towns and their names. I blame it on having kids. I had 3 and I swear they killed brain cells. So Meeker. I guess that is near OKC? I have a TON of family I don't even know in OKC and surrounding areas including Moore. If you know any "Weese" then I am related. Sorry about the mix up.

And the gorgeous rooster in the yard with the Orps, he's one of my Faverolles/Orloff boys, love him to pieces.
Why does this one look like Mr. T to me.....

They didn't turn out half bad I miss mine but have a new batch growing up almost ready to go into there own pen, will be a while before I get any eggs though

I feel so relieved that I'm not the only one! I was from a ITTY BITTY town called Julian. It's known for the history of gold mining and the apple pie. Waaaay up in the mountains in the San Diego county. I still have my brother who lives in Ramona and close friends who live in El Cajon. I remember all the Spanish town/city names but the Cherokee language I think makes me lost. Lol. I moved here with my family when I was a Jr. in high school. I adjusted ok I think. I just don't go farther than Tulsa or I will get lost. Scratch that. I get lost even in Tulsa in certain areas. HA! Where about in SD did you live?

Quote: we had our honeymoon in julian! I always loved it there! i grew up in clairmont, encinitas, then my hubby was stationed in san diego almost his whole navy time- so we were in north park, el cajon, lakeside and alpine, then chula vista - i can only tell north south east or west by san diego terms- ocean, mountains, los angelos or tijjuana- i get totally lost here in muskogee-

I know what youmean - I grew up in Michigan where the nearest big body of water was East - Lake erie. Then I lived in San Diego where the water was West. I took the wrong exits for months. We love Julian but I would get sick on the roads there and back - DH's driving.

My thoughts are with everyone who have had losses. Kass, I pray your little Neice is ok.

Does anyone know what time the poultry show in Newcastle starts on Saturday? I am trying to swing by for that before going to the Orr family farm in the afternoon. I am also looking for a bee mentor if anyone is willing. There is only so much you can learn from books and I would really like to see a working hive and get some advice.
Judging should start around 9, for best viewing I would wait till after 10 or 11 as you cannot enter the rows where the judge is until he has finished. Earlier than that and everyone will be touching up feathers feet and beaks. The isles get rather busy.
