***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I don't think the whole "@" sign works on my iPad but I'll give it a shot.
@Junebug-congrats! I love that white Serama! We had way too much going on last weekend, I'm sorry. I wanted to go. I'd recite everything but I get too long-winded as it is :-D

Shelby-hilarious!! Trust me, they'll just be glad it wasn't them that sent something to the wrong recipients.

Robin, there are so many diseases and most of them have symptoms just like the one you talked about. I drove myself out of my mind for 2 yrs worrying about them all and jumping through hoops trying to keep my birds healthy. None of it did any good :-( What finally worked (so far) was roofing their pens (even with shadecloth) and runs & keeping hatchlings completely separated until 7-8 months of age. The babies I've hatched from birds that grew up here are the healthiest of all. Somehow I think immunities must be passed down through the egg. So that babies hatched from my own birds are immune to the diseases at MY place, although they might not fair as well at someone else's place because they have a whole different set of germs there.
I don't think there's only a single disease that makes our birds sick. I think it's probably a combination of things plus how much of the bacteria or virus they're exposed to at any given time.
Coral, I'm sending good thoughts your MIL's way. That's got to be incredibly difficult for her to deal with. It seems nothing is simple and everything has complications.
Kass, I still think about your niece often during the day. Have they found anything out yet?

So let me tell you how much of a chicken nerd I've turned into.....Kyzmette and I work at the same place and we were IM'ing each other on Monday. We were talking about the d'uccles I wanted to get one day and ad for some Marans I found. So I type out this long response to her about why I want the d'uccle males caponized and about how I want a certain rooster for my flock so any potentional offspring doesn't lose their dual purpose traits and about my upcoming processing day. I didn't send this message to Kyzmette...I sent this message in a group chat to my immediate coworkers. OMG. My immediate coworkers now know I think an awful lot about my chickens mating and me eating my chickens.

This is how much of a chicken nerd @Shelbydog has turned into... she called me last night to tell me she got me a present... a Maran! She has a hen and roo for me. Now that's a heck of a prezzie!

Of course, I guess I should have mentioned that I've become such a chicken nerd, that I got totally excited about getting chicken prezzies!

Went to blanchard aucion sat an the chicken prices wer way up. SOME peep said it was because i was ther i dont no wat that would have to do with it.

You lend any auction credibility by simply showing up. "Mike's here! It's officially an auction now!" :)

And it is a steal even at that price. Man, these things are the best egg layers I've ever seen in my short chicken career. Went out to lock them up last night and found yet another egg. That's 11 eggs by 10 hens in 24 hours, with no light. Somebody laid two!

I've never even heard of that.

We are considering going to the Mountain View goat and sheep sale on Saturday. Anybody ever been to that? How is it and what is the quality of the goats?

thanks nana, have saved it!

@ksane maybe its coincidence, but the duramycin has saved tilt- after months of trying to figure treatment- so i will continue learning, i hate losing birds, but captain and tiffany were the final straws.... so dang frustrating to watch a bird starve to death and not know why

and i guess i'll always take it hard- but looks like some of those eggs were hers
