***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Has anyone had trouble with feral hogs?.
We have a friend north of us between Meeker and Chandler that has been over-run and a friend in Tecumseh south of us that has been killing them this year. He skins them and butchers the meat. Roger's cousin in Quinton has had them for several years killing calves. They hunt and kill regularly now.

No feral hogs in the Skiatook area I'm aware of. We did have an outbreak of large cat attacks that were never identified. A lot of local dogs went missing, one showed up with its tail torn off, and one of my dogs required stitches for a five inch laceration and tooth marks with the top teeth on her skull and the bottom teeth raking up her shoulder and neck. Feral hogs would scare me witless.

@shelbydog that cat is beautiful! And has back haunches like a jackrabbit!

It is amazing what parents will share with their in-laws. It's like they think their children know all the history. We just have to ask more questions about what they remember from the decades of experiences they have had.
I have recordings of my grandmother telling stories from her past. She was 100 when she died. Wish I could have talked with my mom more before she died at 60. my aunts are in their 70s and 80s and love to talk about their pasts. Some really great memories.
I was raised in a very fractured and dysfunctional family, they were that way for at least 3 generations that I know of, so I have very little family hx on either side.

We have been going to Stratford to hunt them, if you are having a problem would be more than happy to help out there.

Don't have a problem yet, but looks like it won't be long. Roger is talking about getting a trap cage built and getting a big smoker too. We will sure let you know when we see any evidence.
Our friend Jerry in Tecumseh got a 300 pounder earlier this summer.

Since you are here, can a F1 CW cockerel be used for breeding if it has any barring on a few tail feathers if everything else is great?
And what about two syckle feathers with a little white on a Birchen? He has the best yellow legs and the greatest looking comb.

I just got back from Newcastle, a lot of nice birds there. I didn't pay attention to prices much as we were yacking with Muesky and Elwood. I saw an absolutely beautiful Royal Palm tom go for 51.00.
I bought a little Coronation Sussex pullet kind of on a whim. I know they are hard to find and think they are beautiful. I understand they are calm and friendly birds.
I also went to the sale last nite . There were alot of nice birds there . Saw the Coronation Pullet , she was a dandy . Worked all day on my pens , cleaning houses , etc . Barely could walk in and set down . I brought my saved favorite roos to sell ( lot 13 ) penciled Wyandottes , Lavender Amer. , a Splash Amer. and some Marans . What do I need with 9 roosters !

Thought the prices were good for this time of year and enjoyed just being there . Hope my boys got good homes .

Muesky got 1 of your Lavender roos and the Splash one. Those are nice"extras". Did you see what the larger Sussexes went for and how much the Blue Marans pair went for?

I was sick and missed the auction but it sounds like I saved a lot of money and avoided a bidding war with Meusky over the Splash Ameraucana roo
I just hated missing the auction. I was seriously considering sitting in the car wrapped in a blanket with the heater on and sending my husband in and Face Timing him on my iPad. Then he could hold up his phone and I could see the birds and tell him how much to bid up on them. But then it occurred to me how pathetic and addicted that would seem :-/
I wrote down the wrong dates (again) when I set the Gold Laced & Dark Brahma eggs. I was pretty surprised when I looked in on them and saw 2 pips today. There's only 2-3 Gold Lace & 1 Dark Brahma that have made it this far, but jeez-they've been at 30% humidity and in the turner this whole time. No lockdown, nothing. I switched them over to another incubator and jacked the humidity up real high right away. One thing I've realized is that healthy strong chicks seemingly are going to hatch no matter what you do. So here's hoping.
