But I bet being able to talk to Coral will be a big distraction to keep me from feeling 'down' about it.

For me the pellet gun makes all the difference in the world, but I am sure it will be much easier w/ Coral's guidance and distraction. And never underestimate the value of a glass of wine!!!!!!!!!!!! (or two)

Kewl. I'm gonna have to caponize in the future. To me it seems to be the most self-sufficient, sustainable way to produce high quality chickens for meat. I applaud your work.

Have you had a chance to look at the caponizing thread, it has some pics and lots of great info from several of us who caponize. I will be adding new pics of today's Chinese tools in the next day or two.

Just got home from an awesome day w/ Coral. All the boys are resting comfortably, we just had one slip, one of mine, one of Oreo's boys, he had just a little to much blood loss for my comfort to go after the second side. I'll let him recoop for a week or two then redo that one side, it is marked for easy i.d. ing. Got to visit w/ her hubby too.

One of my boys? I'm glad you didn't risk it, I really want them because of Oreo. We've named them Orson & Orwell, they have to start with "Or" cuz of Oreo. I hope he'll be alright.
I'm SO anxious to learn to caponize!! You all are awesome at it. Once I get to the point of processing my husband said he'd do the killing. I can do all of anything but that. If he weren't willing to I could probably manage it but thankfully I don't have to. I think the cauterizing tool Poco talked about it going to be a must.

I am going to process for the first time as well. Probably the weekend after next. I couldn't find anybody near by to teach me so I have watched a ton of videos and will just go for it. Wish me luck!

I also hit the Auction last night and came home with four Wheaton? Ameracuana and a roo. Pretty birds. I also got to meet and chat with @bardies . It was nice to see Rebecca and MaryJo too.

Robin, She is a Blue Birchen Wyandotte, offspring between a Blue Birchen F1 cockerel and a Blue Wyandotte hen. I'll set up a breeding pen to see if we can get more.

Yes, both your boys are resting tonight, Orson and Orwell. I caught poco making googly eyes at them saying how pretty they were

, but I made sure they were in my carrier when I came home!!!!! Sorry poco couldn't resist. lol Getting them will be a little delayed since I have to wait for the other one to get re-cooped enough for the second procedure.
