Darling babies. Mine are all fast and feathered now. I'm getting eggs from my two oldest. Kelly thinks she might help me hatch them.

CathieSue, I would love to help you hatch them, but I want to get healthy chicks to hatch on my own, first. Although to be frank, I'm thinking I'd like to try a different source of eggs. If I can hatch a notoriously difficult type of egg with detached air cells, but I keep having problems with all the other eggs of the same type, maybe I need to change my variables.
Although if your eggs are fertile I would be happy to try them out. Unless you want me to bring you the bator so you can do it.
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I did a lot of research before I started the build. I use my lawn mower to move it. In a pinch I get inside and lift it to move it. I didn't fence the bottom because of a couple of reasons...1) no real predator problem 2)I didn't want to get chickens legs caught up when I moved it. At first they got real confused when moving but now they either hop on the roosting pole or just walk along with it.Oh yeah, that's a nice build. It seems to take everything into account. I take it you attach it to a tractor or vehicle to move it? Is it fenced on the bottom?
Just had more losses today. 2 silkies and 1 lavender AM. Somehow a coon weaseled his nasty hands through 2 double wrapped bands of chicken wiresad day.![]()
Ps- if anyone near or around the norman/OKC area is selling any of their flock or hatching eggs... I'm interested. Have too much emptiness in the coop now
I am sorry for your loss. Chicken wire only keeps chickens in it does little to keep a determined preditor out.
