***OKIES in the BYC III ***

CathieSue, I would love to help you hatch them, but I want to get healthy chicks to hatch on my own, first. Although to be frank, I'm thinking I'd like to try a different source of eggs. If I can hatch a notoriously difficult type of egg with detached air cells, but I keep having problems with all the other eggs of the same type, maybe I need to change my variables.

Although if your eggs are fertile I would be happy to try them out. Unless you want me to bring you the bator so you can do it.

Are you trying to hatch shipped eggs? If so those are HARD and a huge gamble.

Yeah, the Isbar eggs were shipped and had detached air cells. I figure if I can get that to hatch, I must not be doing too bad, right?

Just had more losses today. 2 silkies and 1 lavender AM. Somehow a coon weaseled his nasty hands through 2 double wrapped bands of chicken wire :( sad day.
Ps- if anyone near or around the norman/OKC area is selling any of their flock or hatching eggs... I'm interested. Have too much emptiness in the coop now

Oh yeah, that's a nice build. It seems to take everything into account. I take it you attach it to a tractor or vehicle to move it? Is it fenced on the bottom?
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I did a lot of research before I started the build. I use my lawn mower to move it. In a pinch I get inside and lift it to move it. I didn't fence the bottom because of a couple of reasons...1) no real predator problem 2)I didn't want to get chickens legs caught up when I moved it. At first they got real confused when moving but now they either hop on the roosting pole or just walk along with it.

I am sorry for your loss. Chicken wire only keeps chickens in it does little to keep a determined preditor out.

Oh I am aware, hard to explain my set up but about a foot and a half up there are three different (triple wrapped) wire around the base of the coop so virtually the holes are so small but apparently the coon found a week spot. Time for me to line the bottom with sheet metal like my old run in Texas. Gonna be some hard labor.

Look at my little Zima walking for me!!!!! I love you guys so much! Having such great people to help makes a world of difference.

She still doesn't quite have it, so I'll rebrace her for another day or two and do more chicken physical therapy.

Happiness is a healthy fuzzybutt!

@Katie1500 I'm so sorry for your losses. I used to think raccoons were cute until I saw what one did to a pen full of chicks. Nasty foul evil buggers.
