Yes, that's where his name came from...right now I'm calling him Bucking Bubbie as he played with me after his bottles. 3/4 gallon of formula! Norman in the movie is a heifer.

Anybody having any lambs or goats kidding? We are moving another cow up with Norman's mother into one of the front pastures. She is swelling and due next week. The weather could stress her into an early delivery. She is a seasoned cow but so was Norman's mother.

The sun is out this morning and temps are supposed to reach 33! Chickens were waiting outside their coops when I took out hot water to add to their tubs. Gave them some scratch on the bare spots.

I've been collecting eggs from the breeders in the brooder room. Some have been pretty cold. Those under a hen when I collect have been set in the incubator...25. Will know in a week if any are viable....some Delaware Bantam, Blue/Splash Rosecomb and Wyandotte. I know some refrigerated eggs have hatched for some people.

What is the coldest temp egg any of you have hatched?

Hope everyone is keeping warm and surviving the children at home with closed schools.

Norman is not up yet for his bottle and we will be putting him with his mom today. Hopefully we will get an easy match up. She still has a full bag and he should learn quickly where the milk comes from. We may have to put her in the squeeze chute and drop the side to get him up to her......

As far as I know they're EEs, so anything could be in there. I have three chipmunks now, and the blonde and brunette, so five fuzzybutts total. I was hoping for one more, but that egg didn't make it.

What makes you think they're female? It would be interesting to follow them and see if the Legbar traits hold true.


Now, who is going to Shawnee this weekend? Shelbydog and I may be there, and it would be great to meet everybody! Cathie Sue, are you going?

Is it just for show birds? Or is a buy/sell/trade/pow-wow kind of thing?

It is for show birds but tere is a sales room and some breeders sell them right out of the show pen.

Jack's ewes are not ready yet. They usually deliver in the Christmas or New Year's bad weather or in good weather in mid january.
Jack's pond was frozen 3"+ thick! Yesterday, when I was giving the ducks corn I looked over and saw a duck laying upside down right at the bank. I thought it was dead but suddenly it moved a leg. I grabbed it but id died a few minutes later
I took an axe and chopped a spot for the ducks and sheep to drink. Poor things! This has been a rough spell for all.
