***OKIES in the BYC III ***

they need those thick legs to hold their stout bodies up. Robin, I didn't know you had a Cornish girl this color! I thought The Dark Cornish were my favorite color until I saw these up close. Dang, they're cool looking.
Carl, congrats on your wins-you put so much into your birds!
Robin, I'm sold on Delawares. I got 3 a few months ago and their personalities are like LF Cochins-They may not be as flashy as some breeds but you'll love them. Nana has Bantam Delaware.
Coral was taking her to a swap and she was hiding in a corner- welllll- you know me! She is a funny thing, she ranges with the big guys, and talks all the time, but they have quiet little voices

Josie, the gal who is sending eggs says that too, they are super calm and friendly- i had my heart set on some cochins, couldn't find any eggs...LOL!

Got to give a shout out to BetsyOK! Picked up several really nice silkies - some paints, some lavenders and a really cool Porcelain roo to give the kids smaller trios to show in 4-H (yeah, and to give me some total eye candy). Cheyenne (daughter) was thrilled to find that one of the paint pullets laid an egg for us last night! So, I totally owe you guys some chicken pictures.

Ksane, So glad you got that showgirl roo! We both ended up being winners on that one. Can't believe you gave him a bath though - you deserved the glare! But, what can he expect??? being the grand poodle of the chicken world!

Its funny, as much as I like naked necks and silkies...I would have thought that showgirls would really float my chicken boat...but so far - not so much. .... Maybe I just haven't met the 'right' one yet. They say there is someone out there for everybody!
Congrats to everyone who brought birds to Shawnee to show.. All of you represented Okie BYC and I think all of the rest of us are very proud of you...

Thanks for all the posts about the Shawnee show. Wish I could have been there. Post more photos if you have them. I'm hoping for manageable weather this week so that we don't miss any more school days before the Christmas break.
I am hoping we can get through this week as well.. I have a feeling that this winter is going to last a long time and do not really want to be in school til June...

Good morning all, it was great to see a few of you again and meet some others I had not met. All in all had a great day with good folks and good birds. I had a total of 17 in the Shawnee show the worst was 3rd in the class. Also had birds showing in Hartwell Ga and Pensacola Fl yesterday with Best and Reserve in both of those shows so all in all a very good day for my birds and myself.
That will likely be the last show I make this show season as I focus on what I really need for 2014 however some of my birds will continue traveling and being seen across the country.
Hey Carl, are the people who are showing your birds taking pictures of them??? I think everyone would like to see some pictures, if you care to post any.

Those eggs were the darkest I have ever seen. Bev Davis was there - she is a very well respected Marans breeder - i was too shy to talk to her. What would I say, "Hi, I know who you are."?
Actually, MJ, That is just about what I said.... Betsy went to introduce us, as she was nearby the table, and I said...Oh, I know you.. backyard chickens etc... but no - it was not her. It was other folks completely. That was Friday night - then, by Saturday, I had realized what happened and told her that I had gotten to know the name so well - when messing around with my marans and the highest praise for a pedigree was 'Bev Davis stock'. I knew the name well before I knew her. How funny. Now I know her (but not really in a completely positive way...). I did enter the raffle for the eggs. Beautiful! Maybe that is where I should have dropped 20.00 or so. How often does the chance come along to get her eggs? Oh well.

Congratulations! That is so cool to have your birds do so well in multiple states at the same time!

You know, I noticed that there were blue laced red wyandottes there at the show - they were gorgeous! - but I thought that they could not be shown yet as they were not accepted into standards. I must have been on the way to do something so I never bothered to look at the number or contact info on the exhibitor. So are non-accepted birds showable? I know that the silkies have 'all other varieties' but what about the wyandottes?

I'm sure they do I seldom see them once they leave here, and very seldom do I ever get them back. I know there were several very substantial offers to purchase them in Fl. all were refused thankfully. Its all good though I will have much better next year as I have a few things in breeder pens all set that would have floored anyone had I decided to upset the pen, but I have decided to save them for next year and make some real waves.
I would post a few but for what I have set aside I prefer to keep them that way.

I loved the hen in the for sale area. I forgot to look into who owned them.

Those birds should see another 10-12 shows in several states before spring and will miss the entire breeding season I know they will make a few more in Fl, Ga, Tn, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nevada, Arizona, and possibly Ca.
I'm focused on next year though as what I have coming up is better.
