That last picture is the cutest thing with the baby chick and the mama hen looking at each other...![]()
You need to take the second Newcastle exit - not the one that goes west by the walmart - but the one that goes through the town to the east (or south). It is in the ffa building on the main street right after the park with the Christmas tree on the left. Past the second light, before the third light.

Shipped eggs are a big gamble. Not only do you have to worry about the quality of the eggs and the honesty of the seller, eggs go through a lot of damage in the shipping process. Start with something local to incubate and you'll have better luck. My first batch I only got one chick, and it failed to thrive and died after a week. I had no idea I would get so emotionally invested in my first hatch and I cried like a little girl when that chick died. When you hatch a dozen chicks and have poop-cleaning mastered, then try hatching shipped eggs. You won't be as stressed, you'll know what you're doing, and you won't be emotionally attached to eggs that have a much lower hatch rate.
I allowed them to sit for 24 hours, point down, at 58-68 degrees. I then put them into the incubator. They were about a week old when I put them in the incubator. They have been in there for 6 days now. Some of them are not opaque any more and I cannot see through them. I think my incubator may have gotten too hot. :0( I checked with MyPetChicken and they did not have any chicks available for several weeks - which would throw me into the same problem of introducing docile, younger, and smaller birds into my flock. I am just so totally new to this I feel like I am running blind!
I don't know where you are located, but I have silkie eggs hatching now from really nice birds. I have a dozen in the incubator, I only plan on keeping a showgirl if I get one and selling the rest. I'm in Broken Arrow.
