***OKIES in the BYC III ***

He's beautiful! Obviously he's the slip? lol Are you keeping the sister to breed? Man, he's beautiful!

Yes I'm keeping her as my sentimental attatchment to my EE flock I lost. Yes he is the slip and he is feeling his boyness for sure. He is crowing and mounting. We need to figure out a time and place to meet up since Shakespear isn't very "sharring" no big fights yet, but the hand writing is on the wall.

That should have been "now in Spanish". Kinda posting through the "back door". Seems I can post if I post after I receive an email notice about a BYC message. But I can't edit the message i've posted. Does anyone know what I need to do to correct this?

Sorry I never get on from a phone

What browser are you using?

Latest pic of Sonny, he is putting on weight, has lost the tips from 4 toes so far, but it isn't damaging his appetite any

i have a hen with a rattle in her lungs, put her on tylan, she isn't interested in eating

could have been a shell less egg too
I don't know why I didn't think of that...........but I had another going one this evening after work....

Why would they do this to me after all of the goodies they get (wallowing in self pity),

No but seriously what can I do now? Anyone else have an egg eater...how can I catch her before she contaminates the rest?

Tara, it is a chicken's nature to eat a cracked or soft egg. It keeps predators from coming around the nest. All chickens are egg-eaters. Make sure your nest boxes have plenty of cushion to protect the eggs laid. Oyster shell helps harden the shells. Collect your eggs often.

False alarm. The incubator I thought I still had is currently in a classroom in Tulsa. DH reminded me that at the end of last school year I left the house with an incubator under one arm and two dozen eggs under the other. A month later I went back to Tulsa and picked up the chicks, but I left the incubator with the teacher so that she could hatch duck eggs next year.

I have the empty box here on a shelf, which is why I thought I still had the incubator. Sorry about that.
Sounds like something I would have done. That's ok!

can you post pics of those two? look at their saddle feathers, are they pointed?

Oh no. Are those the feathers right behind the wing that fall on both sides of where the tail feathers start... Somewhat on the thighs? They are long and pointed. And there are only like two or maybe three of those feathers... Yah. I have a feeling I got a trio of cockerels.

They were malnourished and underweight which doesn't help. I either sell them to BYC members or they go back to the auction. I really loved these two guys too. Today one told off on itself as it made the upset sound that roos make... I was grabbing my Thorin and he put up a fuss so the guy was over there all alarmed. Also there are several times he would ruffle those neck feathers and stand tall to the other cochin. Darn it. I just loved the color and I thought that I had a bunch of pretty cochin girls. **sigh**

So... if anyone wants one I can get them one for what we gave. $10. Look exactly like Sonny but with smaller combs and waddles at the moment. One has frostbite on feet as well but feet are getting better. These guys were not taken care of by previous owner and are still underweight. They need a little TLC but will be awesome roos soon. They are SO sweet too!!! If no one wants them I will be taking them back to auction. I can't keep anymore cockerels.

I responded before I saw Sheryl's post (sorry if I mangled the spelling of your name!). I have these styrofoam things to use until I get my chiller converted.
Actually I am very use to people spelling my name with an "S". It's now a dying name. No one names their kids "Cheryl/Sheryl anymore. Guess it was popular in the 70s? Either way spell away, it still sounds the same.

Hey fellow Oklahomans glad to be here!!!
Welcome fellow Okie! NE Ok here!

Four of Cathie Sue's with Toffee in the back. Dont they kinda look like members of an 80's band posed for an album cover photo? I just need to crop the picture and make the background space or a junkyard. Maybe paste a spiked dog collar on that front one and a blue Flock of Seagulls hairdo on one in the background.

I could see drum sticks under one wing, a guitar hanging off another... Or maybe an album cover for something like on a street... leather jacket... oh my where am I going with this?

Robin, sorry about your hen. Hope she gets well soon! Thorin has no sneezing or any respiratory symptoms anymore but his face is a little swollen still. I am going to continue Tylan as he is on shot #3 today. I hope I can get that gone. Everyone else is doing really good on it... How much do you give a chick that is just a little larger than a softball? Would 1/4cc be too much?

He sure looks great!!! Such a handsome boy!
