I have had La Fleche before. They are Beautiful, Beautiful birds. They were too flighty for what I want in my flock but very elegant and great meat birds for breast meat.
Hey Everyone! I'm a recent transplant to Altus, Ok from East Texas. I had chickens in my back yard there, but sold them about a year ago in order to rehab our back yard before renting the house out. I'm about to build a coop and get a few chickens back into our yard hear. Any Altus/SW Oklahoma people on here? Also, are there any breeders in the area that anyone has an experience with? Thanks!
I have a Toulouse/Pilgrim cross and he is really wonderful.

she was puttering around today, still having her moments of upside down head, but i think she is in recovery...@artsyrobin I am SO glad to hear Eliza is doing better! Crossed fingers and toes can work magic!![]()
Found a goose egg today! First one I've ever seen.
The Sebastopol in the background is the one I got from Tim K. I adore him. He's putting grass and bark mulch in their bathing tub. Any ideas on that behavior? The 2 african browns are going to their new home next weekend. .

I thought about that. I really really hope it was just plucked for fertility or pecked by another hen. If she had vent gleet and is over it I am ok with that. She really looks so awesome... then turns around and the moon shines. LOL!!! Poor darling! I need to get a picture and share her on here.@True5. The bald butt may be due her having vent gleet at one time or she was plucked for fertility. Just a thought.
The same breeder of my Light Sussex I just hatched and had a facebook auction for his German Red New Hampshire eggs. I just remember how beautiful his flock was and how proud he was of them (and he has every right as they were well taken care of). So I thought, Oh, I'll bid but I know these will go for WAY more. And then no one else bid. So guess who is a happy camper!?!?! I will be adding some of those beautiful HUGE birds to my flock!e I'm pretty happy! I know my husband is starting to break a sweat. He is now counting all the chicks and thinking of the new coop he HAS to help me build. Either way, I am pretty excited to hatch out such a beautiful breed
i break one of my herbal capsules, so she gets half- i combine it with an aspirin, polyvisol and vit b in about 1/4 c of water and give it to her periodically through the day, so maybe three droppers at a time- its a slow process, am thinking i am dealing more with a bump to her head than wry- she is starting to eat on her own-Craigslist has an ad for pairs of LF Cochin for $30 in Yukon with photos and an ad for laying Australorp hens no pictures.
Robyn...so glad to hear you hen is improving. How much turmeric are you giving her?
