***OKIES in the BYC III ***

How about having POOPS on June 14th in Tahlequah? I need to plan a chicken gathering at the custom coop site. We would have lots of shade, a covered area for food, and I'm sure we can get a lot of shopper through if we get the word out.
My vote would be for one week earlier - got lots of cow stuff going on in the middle of June. BUT - its just one vote (and not really a big one).

Quote: YES YES! It's a long drive for me but I'll miss it if they have it mid May (and from the sounds of it that's the only open weekend others can do it in May). It's still real nice in June and a nice day trip would be wonderful!

Dusti, he looks like a Black Langshan to me. I've never had that breed but I've had lots of LF Cochins and he doesn't look like a Cochin at all. Way too upright, not near enough leg feathers and not squatty and thick enough. He's beautiful though-gorgeous. You shouldn't eat him, he's too beautiful and would make such cool babies.
How old are the Orloffs? Maybe I could buy all the boys from you and caponize them myself. I'd need to do it before 10-12 wks though. The Fav boy is 'unriskable', that's why I don't want to do him myself. But if I had several Orloff boys surely my odds would be good. All the BR I did are doing great lol

I would come to Tahlequah.

But he has a bunny tail.....if he's langshans he should have sickle feathers by now. I posted a pic for the lady I got him from to see what she says. Maybe he's a mix of the 2 as someone else said.
I've got enough hens to support him being around if I decide to not freezer camp him.
I have no clue on the sexes on my orloff chicks. They were hatched about 2/16. I know I want to keep a roo myself.

POOPS: The reasoning behind the second Saturday in June is the extension of my school year. We had so many days out for inclement weather, and I think we're adding a week for teachers. I'm not positive, but I need to plan for it.

Also, the first Saturday in June conflicts with the sale in Inola, I think. I want to be sure I'm not putting people in the position of having to choose. Inola can be cool if you have an ATV and want to traverse miles and miles of people's "stuff" (plus they have poultry in the morning). POOPS will be a day-long event, and I want people to feel like they have gotten their drive-time worth of poultry, friends, potluck, and fun.

How many people feel they could make the drive to Tahlequah on Saturday, June 14th? Anybody know of anything BIG that's happening on that day? Picking the date can be the hardest part. I really, really want to have the maximum amount of time for planning. For those who want to be in on the planning, let's form a PM group. I'm going to handle the place and the potties. I'll make sure we have a nice area at the coop display lot, with porta potties set up, and we'll need folks for other jobs: Advertising, Signs, Food - Keeping Track, Setting UP, and Putting Away. I'm going to front the money for the porta potties, so I'm hoping we can do some donations and drawings to cover the potty cost. What does everybody think?

Last year we had a silent auction to raise money. I don't remember how much we made. We gave everything after expenses to the Newcastle Auction. If everyone brings a silent auction item, it can add up.
