what breed or breeds are you looking to get into?

I don't know much about polish but I bet the white crested chocolate is going to be all the rage soon.

You need to decide what your goal is- if you want to sell hatching eggs, eating eggs, lots of colored eggs; if you want good laying hatchery-type stock or longer lived higher quality stock; if you want bantams or large fowl; if you are going to breed for show and/or towards SOP quality; if you want common breeds or rare breeds (which are more expensive). All of these things will determine what kind of birds you want to get into.

Also think about checking Craigslist or other poultry sale sites in your area, like on Facebook. For example, if there are four or five people selling RIR chicks for $2 each in your area, then there isn't much of a market for you with RIR unless you are just in it for the pleasure of the hobby.

the main two I like and everybody thinks are awesome are my two hens the white crested polish and blue Brahma it morph or whatever she is. We have two coops and planning to making some breed seoerate ones and figured I'd start w finding roosters for those two since my only roosters are a bug red whatever he is w some green feathers and a smaller one we call mini me lol.

My white Silkie hen that i got from Robin, laid her first egg today, I feel like a proud grandpa..lol. Her name is Cotton and I just absolutely love her, she comes to me and wants picked up and loved on. But again so happy about it and had to share. Will try to post picture later.

Our internet has been out for 2 days, they keep saying they are working on it, but they aren't making any progress. Went to my fil's to steal his internet waves! lol

My hatching is done, had a long hard day w/ it Monday, don't remember what I was able to post, but had several in icu. Everyone even the very special one is still alive. Everyone is doing well, the special one is still in icu in guarded condition, I don't think he will live, but I didn't think he would make it to day 3 either. Here are some pics of the crew, even the special one. Don't be shocked, it is normal and genetic, he is not having a hard time b/c of his genetics, but b/c of an early hatch from shrink wrapping.





























Oh and the 3 weekers have been outside in the coop w/o any heat all week and doing great!

Oh I love the special guy....you can see his little wing finger! So he is totally naked on purpose? Or he hatched early and will eventually grow feathers... or who know? Hope he makes it... featherless wings crossed!

Where are some good places to order birds/eggs in OK. I'm planning on getting into breeding a little for a hobby!!! I'm looking for a white crested polish rooster also!!!
