***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Mites. Some people use Sevin dust, I prefer diatomaceous earth (DE). Don't go on the main forum and ask about it unless you want to start a fight. Sevin is a poison that is safe for chickens, but works better on lice and mites. DE is non-poisonous, but doesn't work immediately. Pick what works best for you, and when you get the time, do some reading on both products so you can know what you're using.

Swapping is swapping. If you have something to swap, and you see something you want, approach that person and see if they want to swap with you. Sometimes a three-way swap works best.

Lots of people want to sell their birds. They like to set a price and not have to haggle. Mark your cages accordingly, to make people aware of your plan. Signs on cages help everyone.

I'm bringing several tables. I want to put my best birds up high, so they are more visible. One is not required to bring a table. It's left to each person to decide.
If I have stuff to sell/trade will my car be parked in the selling area or do we unload and drive our cars back to the parking area? I have a Subaru with a hatch I can open up and could sell/trade out of it.

OK. We are definitely not wanting to use poison. How often would you recommend I give these girls a DE dustbath? Ive cleaned all chicken areas and covered all chickens with it. Is there anything else I should do?

Sellers will park their vehicles inside the display lot, nose to the fence. You can set up next to your vehicle and sell out of the hatch if you like.

Rudy and his buddies spent their first day outside today, and I have been one nervous chicken momma!!!!!!

They aren't staying out there, yet, my nerves couldn't handle that, and they aren't ready either.

I don't know if there is something in the air or what but this evening it seems like in every pen the hen's are fighting or picking on each other and then in my brooders the chicks are even picking on each other. Kind of weird because they have gotten along real well, but for some reason they are all feeling frisky I guess..lol

My brooder chicks have been hysterical all day. They are just starting to run at each other and puff up. I didn't get much accomplished today because I kept going to watch them
