Lost my smallest Gosling this morning
:(

The others are doing fine though.

I think I will need to cull one of the welsh harlequin ducklings. It was spinning like a mad top for its first 24 hours. It's had poly si vol and niacin. The erratic flailing has stopped but still uncoordinated. I believe we have an neurological disorder here.

My 9 "black and lavender ameraucana" chicks hatched 4/12 that I got for real cheap at auction seem like a healthy bunch. Believe an australorp chick was placed in box. No lavender, all black or blue. Some appear to not have muffs but pretty positive all have pea combs except for the 'lorp.

It's all good though. They are healthy and active.

Wow, I'm on a roll today. Accidentally typed sexlink instead of autosexing, then I go to edit it and quote myself, instead.

I've just got the Cream Legbars. I've got a sexlink pen going, BCM over CL, but the dumb CLs in the coop keep going broody on me can't seem to get eggs out of there!

Bought a dozen Rhodebar eggs at auction in March, ended up wtih 7 boys 1 girl and a ? either unpure or wrong breed. Yeesh.

Ok, got home with 2 JG, gave them to my broody silky who is hatching some serama eggs, they are due by the end of the week, mama doesn't mind, she popped them under her- and for once i am short large broodies- i've heard so much good about JG, couldn't believe they had them- they go through Estes hatchery, she said she ordered 3 rare breeds, so they got an order of the JG, they also have the sussex, orps, BR, RIR, EE's, bantams, ducklings, turkeys and geese next week

am running a chicky hospital, my older sgirl has been having balance issues for months, thought she had pretty well recovered, seems she goes into seizures if startled, so got home and she had another one, and i have a silky cockerel recovering from paralysis, been a long haul with him, not out of the woods as he is still mouth breathing but he is beginning to move his legs and trying to stand. And of course my cross beak silky, Rusty seems to be doing well.

You didn't happen to get the Rhodebars eggs in Newcastle, did you? I supposedly got 7 chicks at that auction in early March. They LOOKED like Rhodebars (I thought there were 5 girls, 2 boys), but two that looked like girls ended up being boys, some ended up with pea combs, etc. I don't think I can safely say any of them look like Rhodebars (save maybe two boys) at 7 weeks. Aggravating, but I didn't pay much for them. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Sigh, it just happened again. I think Lord Dingwald suffered some internal injuries the other day, because he's been under the weather ever since. I thought he was just healing, but this morning I noticed his comb was looking a little dusky. I went out to get him with the intention of keeping him inside for a few days to doctor him up, but as I was carrying him in, he seized in my arms and died. Poor baby boy.
