***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I finished the wire and tarp on the hoop coop yesterday. I still want to set up the perch, feeder, water, and nest boxes. With bad weather expected this weekend I may wait till Monday to move the chickens in.

Thank you hotcurltr!!

I am loving this site and the people too! Looking forward to gleaning all kinds of knowledge from the long 'termers' around here!

I must share:::::

I'm SOOOO stinkin HAPPY to report the babies are happily exploring their new coop! We finished it last night and I got it ready this afternoon to let 'em loose!

It was SO much fun watching them stretch, run, flap, fly, and fight (more like running up to each other, bowing out their chests, stomping their feet?? and then running off) LOL I sat on a 5 gallon bucket for an hour just enjoying them.

They found the low roost we left for young birds fairly quickly. The white on the walls is DE by the way - got a bit carried away and splattered it everywhere :D

Just had to share .......... I hope everyone has a blessed day tomorrow :)

Haahahaaa, well it sure beats what comes on the real TV!!! At least it's family friendly :D Thank you!
Just had a down pore here watch out tulsa, it was awsome!!!! love the rain.

Yeah, I watched those dark clouds coming, the wind picked up and I thought we were in for a 'toad floater', but it spit 15 drops and obviously saved the rest for ya'll ....... Glad someone got it! This is beginning to feel a LOT like 2011/2012!!

Do I need to treat the outside chickens as well? And the ones in a separate cage? I don't mind doing it all just want to make sure it wouldn't hurt to treat them if they are healthy.

Can I get mad at the seller now? Serious question by the way.

We got the corid. So we literally give them 1 drop a day? Am I reading this right?

Sulmet is the one that treats more strains of coccidia. Something like 9 vs 3. I'll look for the link later.
Adults don't usually need treated. It's in most all adults systems (which is how chicks get it). If exposed in small enough amounts they build up a nice immunity to it. It's not the seller's fault. It happens all the time when chicks are exposed to areas adults have been in.
1 drop? I don't think that's right. You add it to their water. It would depend on the concentration but I've never heard of only giving 1 drop. Change their bedding sveral times a day so they're not re-exposed to it.

Today I caponized the 3 Dark Brahma cockerels I got from Dusti last Saturday-THEY ALL LIVED!! Dusti-all 3 are alive!!! I'm so glad! I didn't get every bit of the testicles on any one chick though so it's possible they'll all 3 not be full capons. At this point I don't care. I have 3 Dark Brahma babies and they're alive lol
I screwed up and forgot the most important tool, which is why there's going to be slips/not fully castrated. I don't know if I'll do it again in the future or not. I was just too dang scared they were going to die. I guess I have 3 more roosters probably, but there's worse things in life :)
