***OKIES in the BYC III ***

This is my EE and i believe she has a pea comb and...

This is the egg she lays

not sure what color it is i just know it is not blue i wish it was that is what i was hoping for when i bought her. So your not the only one, lol.
What a pretty hen. Jack has a Blue Ameraucana that lays a pink egg. Is she then an EE? Her chicks are all either Blue or Splash. Muesky got some of Jack's Ameraucana chicks last year and one of them lays pink eggs too. Mama hen must have passed along the pink egg skills.
(The egg looks light brown till you put it beside a light brown one, RIR for example, and the "pink" is distintly a pale peach/pink color)

I would so have done the same exact thing!
Before we got chickens I went to the neighbor's that have mini horses - such cute manure!
I just was over there today, not to get compost but to see two mini babies. One is only a week old and already thinks she is a thorobred. I had to come home and hug a bunch of chicks to loose the urge to get a little horse.

We are thinking of putting up a privacy fence and I'm working on my husband to talk him into two hair sheep instead of a riding lawn mower.

Jack has a 4 lambs for sale; 3 girls and 1 little ram. I love them, they look like an old English engraving as they graze in the pasture across the road.

I am unsure if I'm supposed to try to remove the poop or just stir it into the peat moss. My coop is small and has a wood floor. I don't really clean the big yard area they run around in.  I occasionally clean the poop out of their run if it gets a lot of poop build up.

if I had to guess I'd say stir it in. I would think if the bedding is trying the poop out you could stir it in and do light pick up and every so many months do complete clean out.

sometimes you just have to experiment with what works best with your set up and schedule.

@ksane Mitzi, you amaze me daily.

@brandi00 those are so stinkin' adorable I wanna pinch their little cheeks and smooch their little topknots!

@erinszoo that baby is adorable too!

The jungle chickies were all still alive when I came home, but I feel like I'm waiting for the other chicken shoe to drop. :(

In other news, apparently one of my pullets has started laying. I'm not sure which one, but I'm guessing it has to be a Bumpers sprog. Why would I think that? Well, I have hands larger than any other woman I know (7" from middle fingertip to first wrist crease), and this is her first egg!

400

Maybe I should hatch some more Bumpers eggs.
