***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have seen people pair their human characters with freakin' Lion King characters. It's pretty disgusting. I don't see that too often but I have and it bothers me. I respect your opinion, but in my own, personal opinion, it is not something I like, nor is it something I want to see.

Update -- I am scheduled to meet with a trauma surgeon tomorrow. I don't know for sure, but surgery may be a last resort, since everything else has failed to work. I'm pretty worried.

Yep! Vulgarity is a point of perception. What we perceive to be vulgar may not be vulgar to somebody else. Social and family norms dictate a lot of what we perceive to be vulgar. It's like a lot of people think a woman's bosom is vulgar, but a man can show his chest, and now there's a lot of talk about women being able to breastfeed in public, but others are totally up in arms against it. For me, it's just our bodies. Close to 50% of the world's population has the same stuff I do, and close to 50% of the rest of the world's population has the other type of same stuff, and the rest are unique and beautiful in their own ways. And we all have that stuff for a purpose, which is beautiful too. And if we all saw it as beautiful, there wouldn't be any such thing as vulgarity.

And that's not the type of graphic artwork I'm talking about either. There are people that can get pretty far out there when it comes to fantasy themes.

I haven't been on devianart in years since that site virus issue they had.

The point I'm trying to make is similar to what Kyzmette posted, some people will write off the simplest hint of sexuality it in a piece of artwork as vulgar. Some stuff is in bad taste and some isn't.

Oh, and you can hide mature themes, although you seem to be indicating that's not what you're saying. Are you talking about the unrealistic PROPORTIONS they apply to women? If that's the case, stay away from any animation involving humans. Even Disney does it.

I don't mind slight sexual themes, what I mind is flat out unrealistic design, turning what a woman has into something different. Like league of angels, for example. I respect peoples' personal preference, and am not one to readily judge them for it. And I do have preferences of my own.

I had to Google that.... looks like good fantasy art to me. I like Frank Franzetta and Bois Vallejo. Amy Brown is a very popular fantasy artist with her fairies. Probably 70% of all fairy tattoos done are one of hers. (I'm making this statistic up but I see tons of her fairies in the tattoo community)

Fantasy art has a wide spectrum of audience. And a lot of it is some really good stuff and.....adult themed.

Now surrealism.....I'd love to have of that type of artwork on my walls. Such fun themes in surrealism.

Again there are some 'artists' who like to push the envelope and be what could be considered tasteless. Depends on the subject matter though. Popular children cartoon characters being morphed into extreme adult themes should be kept to private communities or at least not be tagged in a manner a minor finds it in 2 clicks.

OH, i see i have seen some of that but not much and it is not my cup of tea ether.

You may all be quite right, perhaps it is my perspective of the artistic nature due to my age; I do not wish to argue on this subject, it seems such a petty matter to get wound up over. I am just stating my opinion. The fact that I am an animal artist does make a highlighted point--I draw animals in mostly lighthearted and age-appropriate scenarios. I try not to get a lot of the above-my-age art from others. Therefore, the somewhat frequent times that I do I don't particularly like it.

So, there. I hope we don't have to further discuss this. Like I said, I don't really want to argue on such a topic.

I am aware that people have their viewpoints, their preferences, their perspectives, and I am not one to try and meddle with those. But hopefully you can respect my perspective as I have chosen to respect yours.
