Ksane, not to sound stupid but what is a slip? Is it a cross breed or something. My oh my! Busy busy Okie people! I've had a more stressful 3 wks than I've had in quite some time-but all it well and it sure makes me appreciate the simple things and realize how much I'm looking forward to arranging pens and summer and camping and boating.
I ended up with -*13 Bantam Ameraucanas! 12 Blues and 1 Black-what are the odds in Blue Black breeding?? Pretty cool though. So here in about 6 wks I'll have those boys to caponize along with the Fav/Orloff/Brahma mix boys-a mix of some of my favorites! There were also Spitz chicks at the feed store last week so before I thought about it i grabbed 4 of them :-/ I do miss my Spitz I sold to Rinda. But it's better she have those to breed since they're a lot nicer quality. I'll be perfectly happy with my hatchery Spitz
I'm in love with these Dark Brahma boys and my Faverolles capon. The 4 capons I got from Poco are at the top of my list also. These Leghorns are awesome! 7 mo old and lay the hugest eggs. I'm really wanting more Leghorns of any color. Mine aren't flighty like people say LH's tend to be. I put the 4 Barred Rock capons in the yard with the 4 capons from Poco and my Leghorn girls. Coral? Kass? Anyone with Barred Rocks? They're 4 months old now-are their combs looking like they're capons or not? They're sure sweethearts. One in particular can't wait for me to sit down so he can come sit on my lap. The one in the bottom right is looking like he may be a slip. But then I look at the Cream Legbar boy (GORGEOUS!!!) and he's def. a full capon but he has some red wattles, too. I've GOT to get my hands on some Legbar cockerels to caponize-i just stare at him he's so pretty.

bummer!Monday morning I watched my exchequer leghorn rooster mounting the hens and crowing his heart out. The storms moved through and they were bad, that afternoon I found him dead under the coop. All I can figure is that the storm scared him and he jumped and broke his neck hitting the bottom of the coop hard. :-(
