My husband got me a gal jug of generic Sulmet last summer from the Stillwater Grain Mill. You might try some companies like that.
Ashtree, here's a picture @Kassaundra took of the rumpless Araucana boy I got from her a year ago. I LOVE this boy! They have real calm natures and are very sweet tempered. Robin, they won't have a butt bump if they're rumpless. No little knob that tail feathers grow from. I hope you've got an Araucana, you'd love their personalities.

that's a cock, not a hen. The rumpless trait is part of the standard for Araucanas.

I was wondering if a hen is already considered rumpless. I did recognize that as a rooster. Sorry for the confusion.

@ashtree Araucanas can be born with or without tails and with or without tufts that grow straight out from their cheeks. (Not the same as beards on Easter Eggers). But in order to show them they have to be rumpless/no tail and have a tuft on each side of their face. I hatched out 7 a few yrs ago, 5 boys and 2 girls. Out of the 7 only 3 were rumpless. They lay real pretty bright blue eggs also.

Such a pretty block! Lots of piecing! A narrow border of a solid green would set off the colors in the tail and contrast with the business of the black and white floral.

The older birds are not as likely to get Cocci as the young ones are. I would think about using some Wazine as a wormer on them. The dosage is 1 tablespoon per gallon of water and I would use it for two days as the sole source of water. The reason to use Wazine instead of Ivermec is that it is more gentle on the system. If a bird has a heavy infestation and the wormer kills all of the worms at once they can get caught in the intestinal tract and form a toxin, killing the bird. All wazine treats is adult Round Worms so a follow-up is needed in 14 days. Withhold human consumption of eggs for 14 days after the last treatment or you can boil them up and feed them back to the birds for a boost during treatment.

By it's own admission DE is ineffective when wet as stated on the package so I have to question its effectiveness as a wormer. Crushed Red Cayenne pepper would be a better choice. if going the natural way, chickens don't have receptors for hot in their systems so they eat it just fine. Sprinkle it liberally over their feed about once a month.

I've wormed them, with both wazine and ivomectin, and have repeated it, the last time in March. I use DE in their bedding and in their favorite dustbathing spots. Not all of my adult birds have the problems the others do, but for the ones that do, it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
