***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yea! We got it figured out and it's all good :) Thankfully Adorkable is going to take him since I darn sure don't need another roo. We can work around any minor details. The important thing is he gets a good home with *girls*!

Adorkable, you're actually closer than me and I'll help get him to you, too. I've got over 30 roosters (they're my weakness) but most of mine have to live in yards with other boys because I just don't have enough girls for them all. They seem happy enough but it's not the ideal life compared to having their own hens. So if you have Silkie girls you'd be a better home for him. He's from excellent lines and he's (IMO) the prettiest Silkie color there is. Would you like to see if we can set up arrangements to get him closer to you? How far would you be able to drive?
I just don't want to see him end up in a bad situation or unwanted somewhere :)
Kass, who's birds are those? That's one of my most favorite color patterns.
Just a sample of the color pattern I found online. I am trying to figure out which boy to pick out for @hotcurltr and I have been eyeing this one NN birchen boy w/ beard and top hat that I think is going to end up being a gorgeous boy, but she isn't fond of a barred pattern and I didn't know if it was b/c of the black white thing.

Yay! I'm sure he'll be very happy. I just hope the girls are ready for some love haha. I've never actually brought in a full grown chicken before. I usually hatch 'em or raise 'em from day old. Does anyone know long I need to do the quarantine thing for?

You're like a mama to all the unwanted roosters. Thanks for doing do much to find this fellow a home! I'm so excited about the girl and can sleep easy knowing the boy is taken care of!

I'm not sure what the standard answer is but I usually go for 3 weeks. And thank you for offering the boy a home with ladies!

I spent all day (or rather the parts of the day that I wasn't on BYC) painting our newest coop. Right now it's a sorta grow out pen for chicks but in a month we will raise it and put a floor on it. I'm pretty psyched. But a lousy painter....and the grey I picked out??? PURPLE. I swear I'm color blind when looking at swatches. Oh well, I doubt the cochins will mind.

ok, my little roo man is having aggression issues- first time- like lorie said his attitude needs some adjusting- just a little d'uccle boy- but does bite- so- i need pointers on working with him- no culling or selling...:)

I'm very happy to help. We live out in the country and have plenty of space. I've actually been wanting a rooster for my silkie girls and decided to randomly check the okie thread today. Lucky for us both I suppose!

Can you not keep a rooster where you live?

Aaaah I know what you are going through with the coop remodeling. Been busy here too recently. Have my ducks in an old pallet coop that I built for chickens many years ago, and I am in the process of building the ducks a proper duck house so that I can tear down the old ugly pallet coop. I just had to get the stinky ducks out of the house hehe. I'm sure your cochins will love the coop!
