i hate how on all the kids shows now a days the parents are portrayed as being complete idiots.   Plus all the violence and bad language on other shows i try to be careful of what my  kids see
and young girls/women are objectified. I was in the hospital and saw Disney on the television. It was quite stomach churning to see such young girls turned into sexual objects like that.
They are CHILDREN for God's sake!

Eh, that language thing is one of those perception issues. When my kids were young I taught them that there was no such thing as "dirty" words, but there were words that were inappropriate to use in front of some people. I told them that until they could learn when and where to use those words, that they were only allowed to use them in their rooms.

You can say you found a bloody chicken in your garden, and it would mean a totally different thing here and in the UK. While I preferred my children not watch violence or shows that catered to men's perceptions of what women should be, letting them be exposed to the things that were all in how something was perceived was never really a problem for me as long as I was there to discuss it with them. Like nudism in art, it never bothered me to let them see the nude form in art, but I detest stupid Carl's Jr. commercials where the woman is practically doing it with the hamburger.
Amen to all the above.

Ok guys I need chicken help I have gone through my growing juveniles and narrowed it down but I am still coming out with way too many roosters. I only have 1 coop but have plans on making another tractor like coop I can move. I am having a hard time picking my rooster. I have 4 bantam cochin girls I want to keep and 2 roosters. Then I have a gorgeous mixed breed rooster I like that would go with my 2 mixed breed girls. I also have several d'uccle girls I wanted to put with a rooster. That is 4 roosters What do I do??? Keep 1 and make mixed up chicks? I have a couple pens inside the bunny barn that are 6x4 feet plus empty rabbit cages 2x2feet. What do you guys suggest??

mitzi is the expert on that, just don't put them next to a pen of hens- all bantam size, same as any other pen for the smaller birds- maybe 4 x 6?

 I'm so pathetic I have rooster yards :/
Actually you never know who's going to get along until you try them. In 2 of my 10x10 pens I've got.....5 Silkie cockerels in 1 pen and 4 in another. A 50x50 covered by a huge tree with 7 big roosters (Cochin, Fav mix, Wyandotte, that size) a 30x30 super shaded yard with 4 Bantams and a huge Faverolles/Orloff mix. I've had really good luck putting a big rooster in with Bantams. The trick is to put a bunch of them together into a new yard or pen at the same time. They'll bicker usually for an hour or less. How many boys do you have? 4? I'd make them as big of a pen as you can and put them *all* in it together at once right before dark. Just leave them all together and that'll give you time to decide who to keep. There may be one who's especially mean to the others and you may decide he goes. Just let them hang out together and don't separate them unless you never plan on putting that one back in there again.
Hey Robin- I've got a white Silkie who is blind in 1 eye who gets picked on by EVERYone. I couldn't find any other boys to put him with because they beat him up. I think he's a drama queen and is overly sensitive because of not being able to see much. The Lav Silkies from you are in a temporary 10x10 pen so I had the idea to try him with them and they're all fine together! The bigger one from you seems to see reasonably well, he was catching tiny bugs down in the grass. The smaller one I don't think can see at all. The white boy is just glad no one is beating him up lol
Sorry this is so long, everyone. I love talking about my boys :)
