***OKIES in the BYC III ***

LOL.... Come on Sun, I need to take honey off the hives today!

Oh, I wish I could be there to help! The grandbabies would love it!

MJ, does she have any diarrhea? If so, I'd try treating for coccidia with sulmet. The supermodels I had are finally starting to put on weight... my chickens' breasts are finally starting to grow chicken breasts!

Otherwise... which worming treatment did you use? Could they have another type of worm? Could they be super susceptible to mites? Have you separated her to see how much she's eating?

Okay, time to play Identify That Chicken! I swear, buying eggs at the auction is like buying Cracker Jacks... there's a surprise in every box.

This little beauty is one of the infamous "blue/red english orpingtons". She's beautiful to me, but I have no idea what she is. Any guesses? And does she look rumpless, or is that just her feathers?

Okies--

I'm trying to call Scoots or Jaime out at Newcastle and all my phone numbers have changed. Assuming the auction is on for tonight (???) does anybody know check in times and if there are extra cages for sale bird use. Needing to re-home some birds.

@mjgigax make sure you use Safeguard paste or liquid (fenbendazole) to worm with, it'll kill the most different kinds of intestinal parasites.
A round of Sulmet (not Corid, seriously) like Kyz said is a good idea also. Most adult birds have coccidia in their gut, but their immune systems keep it under control so they don't get sick. When they're stressed by other things (new home, another sickness, new roomies, bad weather) sometimes their immune systems can't keep the coccidia in check. Their bodies keep getting weaker trying but can't keep up. So giving them a round of Sulmet knocks the numbers back down and allows the bird to recover.
I've got a 9 oz Serama hen who'd been sitting 6 wks. I lost 2 of my Bantam Faverolles hens to a predator while we were in NC :hit so my daughter pulled the birds and all the eggs from that pen. I gave this Serama girl one of the eggs and the baby hatched Friday night. OMG she's so proud!! The only eggs she's ever laid look like misshapen peanuts so i don't think any of her eggs would've ever hatched. The chickie-daddy is a white Frizzled Cochin bantam.
Does anyone know why this baby is black??? (His name is Earl Jr. if anyone watches that show lol) 5 toes, a beard and feathered legs. But his mama is tan & white and his daddy is white-what happened?

@junebug they're only going to have that auction every 3rd Saturday during summer (from what Bardies said). The number I have for them is (405)426-0911.

Thanks, Mitzi...just called that number--its no good either--so I guess there's no auction tonight.(??) Saw on the auction page that some one else is having auctions on 1st and 3rd Saturdays at Blanchard, but don't know how old the list was...I'll try their numbers.

Mama hen looks VERY proud of that baby. :)

Read that auction list again and the Blanchard 1st and 3rd was on the CANCELLED list....and was 2 years old. Guess I better start reading the fine print. :)

Haven't posted in a while...here are some of my recent wins--April, Cajun Classic (Louisiana) Clean sweep on silkied champions.

And Ayam Classes.

And in May--this one from Mother Earth show (Wash.) Now owned by Anna Ballard.

No auction tonight!
Third Saturday. I think this may be the way they do it for the summer months.
