***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Oh my gosh thank you so much... he's such a gentleman. I made a small fenced area next to the silkie tractor and he has been courting one of my girls the entire time. She goes in and out of the house teasing him lol. The other girl is in the nestbox sitting on golfballs. That makes 3 broody hens at the moment plus 1 that has 2 week old chicks. :idunno He has been following her up and down the run lol. Waiting for her to come back outside... he's adorable. My husband laughed at me... you go out to pick up a rooster and come home with 6 chickens. Good thing he likes chickens as much as I do :) I just fed them so of course they want to eat shavings! They are super healthy, very active and absolutely gorgeous. They are right next to another brooder with 4 sussex. I thought they were the same age, but the sussex are about a week or 2 older and way too feisty for these sweeties. Thank you so much for sharing these cuties with me! Who could say no to this? :love
Ooooohhh! I love that coop with the hardware cloth! He looks like he's strutting lol At least your girls sit on golf balls, mine puff up and sit on nothing. One of my Cochin girls did sit on a t-shirt for a month though. She's convinced it hatched. I'm glad you like the babies. They're one of my favorite breeds and this guy has really healthy big ones. He's selling his adults so this was my last chance to get chicks from him.

What a handsome guy! And sweet too. He must be so happy! And those babies are beautiful!

Robin here is Maverick's son. The boys call him my booby bird because he likes to cuddle up between them lol. I am having a terrible time deciding between keeping him or keeping one of the cockerels from the ones I ordered from Ideal. Of course the hatchery ones will not be related to my hen or the daughter I want to keep but a booby bird is hard to beat. Plus I say "come here come here come here so I can catch you" and he does lol

i hope he stays sweet! i think alot of handling and no girls is helping your boy here, he may get a name change...he is starting to take food from my hand without biting...

so- any ideas on what is going on with this boy?

i don't see any mites, but his skin is puckered and has wounds on his neck and shoulder- i am putting neosporin on it, he als has tourquoise poop, i wormed him and ivomeced for mites just in case

Kass, I wouldn't reach my hand under than hen on a bet!
Robin, It looks to me like someone's been pecking him. Sometimes when they get one down on the ground they all gang up on them.
