***OKIES in the BYC III ***

post some pics of the coop and lets see if we can find some weak spots, best thing though- no gaps whatsoever- hardware cloth, basically ft knox

speaking of losing birds, another guinea keet gone, something i have noticed, the strongest one is twice the size of the the others, maybe they were weak to begin with
maybe they are being bullied away from food/water. Little animals have a strong sense of competition.

Quote: well, the other thing i noticed with these weaker ones, walking on their knuckles, holding their wings out and leaning forward- so mama has the strong one, i have the last remaining weak one, giving him crumble water with a little redcell added- these guys were caught in last weekends rain and that didn't help much

If anyone is looking for some beautiful Toulouse geese, let me know. I have to give mine up. Send me a PM if you are interested. I have three. I don't know what sexes they are. I can take more pictures later today.

It's been awhile since I've been on here. First, let me say I love reading this forum. It IS Oklahoma...people happy for each other, sad for each other, helping each other out. It will take me forever to put names with personalities, but I'm trying...just much better at remembering people's faces!

My two male CLs I got from Rinda are growing nicely as is the Barnevelder pair, and my little lone Isbar. I so hope it's a she. It's at 10 weeks now. It feathered out slowly, but doesn't have much of a comb. I've been out of town for a few days, so I'm hoping it'll be obvious by the time I get back.

My Jubilees are getting big! I lucked out. The two I hatched (from North Carolina) are boys. Out of the 11 I purchased from Michigan (JB's Poultry), 8 are girls. I plan to keep one of those roosters, but I'll have a couple to sell (or TRADE) once I decide which one I'm keeping.

I have yet to send a roo to freezer camp. One, predators keep taking them, but two, I kinda like them. Three, cleaning seems, well, hard. But I hear the taste is amazing. I grew up on it at my grandma's, and remember all the steps to get it to the table, but I don't remember the taste. Lol.

If there isn't much comb on an Isbar by 10 weeks I'd be almost certain it's a girl, the boys make themselves known early! Post a pic when you get back in town!

@ashtree we can arrange pick up however you want. I hope you get girls!

@lonnyandrinda sorry about your smart animals. I do have another crested girl if you are interested.

@TRUE5 I messaged you on FB about Buddy. Let me know if you want him.

@NanaKat it is Hyacinth thanks for helpin me remember.

And welcome to all the noobs!

@cathiesue are you sure? I feel so irresponsible losing the one you already sold me! If you do have another you can part with can you bring it with you when we do the capon clinic?

Your wants list is looking alot like mine! And your cochin roo is lovely. I love cochins

I have a pen of EE pullets, about 12-15 weeks old, $12.50 each, and some cochin and cohin crosses $12.50 for mixed $15 for pure same age. The EEs are from my own mix, Ameraucana over RIR. The cochins were hatching eggs I bought in the spring and I just sent all the little roos to the auction. I can post pics if anyone is interested.

So sorry you need to rehome them! I'm sure you'll find a great place. Maybe Dusti would be interested?

I would love to see EE pics. What color eggs will they lay?

do you have any poultry nutri-french. Sounds like vitamin/nutrient deficiency. The nutri drench is supposed to bypass digestion.

I live in Skiatook too! Well, closer to Sperry but Skiatook address. Its a dirt floor coop. 2 walls and the top are completely covered by tin. The right side is partially wood and mainly wire. The south facing side or the from of the coop has an old heavy door that you have to lift on to open. The nest box is to the right of the door and has a completely covered wood back with 2 locks. The left of the door is more wire. No holes were dug. Do we have minks and weasles around here? I'm sure we do, we have just about everything I've just never seen one.

@lonnyandrinda I know you were joking! I was just teasing-I swear lol I don't need any more though (after the Legbars haha!)-it occurred to me.....what if all the ones i caponize turn out to be slips??? My roosters follow me around the yard, one sits on my lap when I'm working on something, my big ole' Cornish from Charley on this list sits right at my elbow. These guys just fascinate me how puppy-like they are when there's no hens around.
@MrsDickey When their necks are stretched way out it's usually a snake that had to spit them out because they were too big to swallow. Sometimes their necks are slimey unless it's dried. Bunch up some landscape netting around the outside of their coop/run. The snakes get tangled and can't get out.
