***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I sent you a PM :)

While most people are looking at that snake I am admiring that awesome .22!! We think it is a Winchester model 64? 67? Hubby says he can't remember exactly, but my dad had one similar with an external hammer, and man it's a SUH-WEET shooting varmint gun!!!
Thank you for the compliments. She is an old beauty. This is a 1993 Rossi replica of the old 1949 Winchester Model 62A. I bought this
rifle new, 20 years ago.
I use cci birdshot for snakes. They are effective on snakes up to 15 feet away.
Why; I don't know. The pellets are so small they won't penetrate the tin siding in the barn.

Here's a picture of my first and favorite chicken. Other than easter egger, any guesses as to her lineage? She's a buff blue colombian color and has white/pink earlobes. She's rather small and her "pullet eggs" are about the size of corturnix and jumbo quail eggs.
At the moment, I have 14 Rhode Island Red Bantams that are my favorite. They are almost 12 weeks old now.
Here is one little pullet at 10 weeks old.

You are very welcome! It is a beautiful piece!

I will see if my mom will let me take some pictures of my dads and post them. We grew up with Uncles, cousins, friends all deer and bird hunting. I've been around guns and the culture my entire life, so when I see one that makes me sit up and pay attention it means something

and your rifle is a nice one!

I personally have a 'thing' for lever action rifles. Being left handed in a right handed family truly sucked when I had to deer hunt with a right bolt action lol
Dad was sweet though, he ended up letting me use an 1889 4440 lever action and before he passed he gave it to me. Have had several offers, it only values around $1,000, but there's not enough money in the world.... if you know what I mean!

that's something your children should keep for their children's children's children to have...kwim Vern?

@Kyzmette I'm so glad you liked it! Everyone loves our honey. It's an EMERGENCY to some of our customers if they run out before our next harvest!

I feel like a drug dealer sometimes- I will give a small jar to friends and family sometimes and say, "your first one is free- but after that you have to pay for it!" LOL! We do love to share but keeping bees is not a cheap hobby! In fact this is our 4th year and I THINK we may finally be in the black this year because of all the equipment we've had to buy.

I need everyone's help!

Please help me determine if these critters are pullets or roo's!

<--- Not her - she's a Black Sex Link, but I added her for comb/wattle comparison.

<--- This one is the Cuckoo Marans and a week or so ago when I posted the pic to find out what breed 'she' is we didn't have this super huge comb/wattle thing going on and it surely was NOT this red. Rooster or future hen??

<--- I was suppose to have 10 pullets and 1 roo. Well after Ksane took 4 Light Brahma's off my hands I was able to better observe my other babies and well, I think two Roo's were hiding out as pullets! Very disappointing

Look at the one on the far right, see how RED the comb is?

The one to the left of the Light Brahma against the wall looks like a possible roo and the one close to the black tub on the right.

Is this one a roo?

This is the one I knew was a roo and showed very early, at about 5-6 weeks ?

What about this one?

Here's a great head shot of the Marans

I just shared this because it's precious

This is Ms. Serenity, my grandbaby, who had scratch in her hands and was determined to catch a chicken. (She never did, but had fun trying)

~ This one is Nip Nip and I was told when I bought her she was a Black Sex Link, but she always had a LOT of white on her. As she feathered in she had less white, but it's her disposition that makes me really wonder if it's a roo. She/he will 'stalk' my cat and when the cat turns it's back to it - it puffs up and goes all rambo on her! Nip also did this with my granddaughter tonight, not the rambo part, but Serenity was following her and the moment Serenity turned around Nip immediately turned to follow her. You can just tell it acts different than the other pullets. None of them do this behavior.

A Side view of Nip Nip. She is not a frizzle either, the wind was blowing like mad tonight lol

IF you only knew what we had to do to catch this chicken for a close up! Lord it's a wild one, but once caught she/he closed it's eyes while I stroked it's head. Awe, I think that means she/he enjoyed it!

Okay, folks, I'm looking for verdicts here --- it's driving me crazy not knowing if these are girls or boys, HELP!!!!

One more question: At what age do they start learning to crow? As of right now if ALL of these I suspect are roo's, turn out to BE roo's I'll have 6, not counting the Light Brahma boy I'm buying tomorrow--- Lord help me now! I'm turning into one of ya'll LOL

I have a few little girls that missed our local pullorum testing day. They're just north of the border near Coffeyville. If anyone knows a of tester or a testing place coming up near them or can get me some antigen so that I can help them out, please let me know. Their fair is July 9th. Much appreciatted.
