***OKIES in the BYC III ***

You make wine too? We've done elder flower and elder berry wine and blackberry cordial before, but this year branched into hard cider and plum wine. What do you make?

I started this year and have made cherry, green tomato, raspberry, and a juice blend I found on sale strawberry, banana, and orange.

Hey y'all. New to Oklahoma, chickens and BYC But Having a great time. I have a lot of support locally. My uncle sent "my kids" Lol 15 RIR, 14 guineas, and four turkeys. And I am pickin' up 9 laying hens Monday. I can't wait.

Nanakat and Robin, it's heartbreaking to hear of the losses of Black Bart and Gizmo. They were both well known featherkids on this forum, and we all feel their loss with you.

More winter tips. You guys feel free to keep adding, because we all need to learn (except Nanakat, who knows all).

I wish! I'm learning all the time. When you stop adding knowledge and rely on experience alone, you can easily fail.

:welcome. Glad you joined us.

Bottled the green tomato wine, I had a little over a gallon left after the explosion during an earlier racking. It is a pretty yellow. Tastes good even before the aging. I decided to bottle in quart canning jars, easy to find the lids and easy to clean and sterilize.

Now on to the chocolate wine. I am researching recipes, I will likely hybridize a couple gather a few supplies and start a batch in the next week or so.

Working on the farm 101... don't work in shorts!! i am sitting in the livingroom waiting for bleeding to stop- a piece of sheet metal nailed the front of my leg.... grrrrrrrrr... but Elliot is keeping me company- hubby was annoyed, i am a workaholic, so i am out there trying to get to some fencing and moved the sheet metal- he doesn't do well in crisis situations... too many years in the navy i guess

i sure hope you get whatever is doing it- so devastating to lose them that way!

any guesses on our Oreo yet, MR OR Miss?? 4 month old Polish mix

and we have a broody.... this girl from @Loriemarler she currently is the only one laying in the main flock, and is pretty serious about that empty nest under her...
Is it bearded or not? if not it may be a girl because i don't see any red wattles yet but if is bearded i would say boy because it's hair is spiky

Yes perfect! Sorry, I saw your post earlier but haven't taken the time to respond. I'd love her. Let me get with cathiesue and see of I can coordinate a day to get SFH eggs. You are in the Tulsa area correct? If you need me to get her sooner I can try for next weekend.
Next weekend works, or an evening is possible. Let me know what you work out with cathiesue.
