***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Started the day with a 7am call from the renters that the plumbing was backed up in both bathrooms. We tried a snake in the line to the septic and got roots so had to call in a plumber.
Then we noticed a cow was having difficulty calving. The calf was back feet first. We had to walk her from the back pasture to the barn where we could load her to take to the vet. Had to pull the calf which was stillborn.
Then the plumber arrived.
We had planned to have lunch with our MIL but had to change that to dinner.
Got a phone call from the surgeon's office that my EKG was abnormal so surgery would be postponed until my cardiologist would give me clearance. He was going to be out of the office the rest of the month. Was able to get an appointment for next Tuesday with another cardiologist in the same office. I've asked for a copy of the EKG....three areas of concern.
So surgery is postponed.
We had a lovely dinner.
That's a little bit scary. D you use the hospital in Shawnee or go to OKC? How do you stay up so late and work so hard? I have debilitating fatique and don't know why so had a referal to a cardiologist, but my heart is always good when they listen to it at my Dr, appts. I'm always up so late because it takes so long to get anything done because I have to stop so much. didn't write down the day Hannah started setting because I thought Glenn did when he marked the eggs. So I'll just have to wait and check everyday. She's getting more growly so it might be soon. What kind of mother's do these girls make.? She's so young. I was really surprised. I wish I knew which eggs are the C.W's. wouldn't mind hatching some, but I really want to wait until they're bred to Abraham/ They're going to make beautiful babies wih him. I'll pray everything goes good for yoy when u see the cardiologist.
PS. How many girls did you say u had for me? You can P>M> me w/ the prices. I finally found one female goose but shes in Oleny? I'm going to try to gether this weekend and if it's anywhere on the rout by you I could stop and pick up the girls. Oh no I can't. I have to make another quarantine area. I'm going to try to pick up some stuff I got at a sale and may be able to make another one. I usually use my laundry room, but Abraham is in it now and isn't ready to come out to play yet. I'm afraid to use the barn unless I can make a real secure area. But I like them closer to the house than that.

We use OKC doctors...always have. I've always had good heart sounds and blood pressure when in the doctor offices. It was the ECG that showed the problems....Left axis deviation, inferior infarction at an undetermined age and an incomplete right bundle branch block. All three do require further exploration...especially since I am diabetic...although the computer that reads an ECG is programmed to overdiagnos.

I fall asleep in my recliner watching TV with my iPad in my lap and wake up thru the night to finish reading, etc. So I'm really not up that late...:lau

Hannah should make a good mom.especially if she is so guarded with her eggs. She may even biddy her chicks until they can fend for themselves. A few of my girls have stopped when the chicks are 4 to 5 weeks of age and others are still in mother mode. They usually begin laying agai at about 4 weeks. CW eggs are a pale pinkish off white...medium to large.
I may have 5 girls for you that are close to pol...and more if you want younger.

I have a LF Cochin hen with two chicks that will be 7 weeks old this coming Saturday. She has been a really good mom, and she and the babies have been in their own pen and coop. She seems to really be wanting to get out and run with her former flock. What suggestions do any of you have about putting the mom and babies back in with the flock. I am just affraid for the babies, I don't want them to get hurt. Will she protect them from the other chickens? Right now she is still a good mom but you can tell she is getting tired of them and they pretty much run around the pen doing their own thing.

i think i'd be killed if i took on another roo darn it! He is a doll!
ROFL that's OK- Dusti claimed this one from my Facebook post!

You can try it. She may immediately abandon the chicks to join the rest of the flock though. If you will set up an area in the coop with a box or a cage with large holes that only the chicks can get through, and put their food and water in it, then they will be able to get away from the bigger birds if needed.
