Red was sprayed by a skunk last night while I was locking up the birds. Have no idea where it happened as I was intent on making sure all birds were where they were supposed to be. After it happened, I could smell the skunk odor near the front of the barn but couldn't see anything. Roger had washed out the trailer north of the barn after we took the cow to have her calf pulled the other day. He said the skunk may have been after the residue.
I didn't realize Red had been sprayed and let him in the house

to let Gracie have her potty run. Roger immediately put him back out and brought me the hydrogen peroxide to wash Red down. I keep several quarts of that handy for that very purpose. It kills the skunk odor on contact. Then Red got a bath with dog shampoo in the bathtub. Sure glad he knows how to "load" because he jumps right into the tub for me just like he jumps into the truck or the ranger.

We had a calf born yesterday and were moving the herds around today to get the fall calvers up closer to the house. I took a few photos. We also applied fly spray because some of the cows were really loaded with them.

The sun rise this morning was awesome, but I was driving home from work so didn't get any pics. Would have stopped and taken some if I had the camera w/ me.

I have GOT to get my numbers down - I am in way over my head with my little city backyard - so here is what I have for sale:

Hatched 8/15 - approx 5 week old Large Fowl English Orpingtons hatched from hatching eggs from Heirloom Orpingtons. Was going to grow these out to keep one or two, but CAN'T! I reallly can't guess the sexes of most of these yet.
3 - jubilee (one looks like a roo)
2 - mottled (one looks like a roo)
2 - chocolate
1 - partridge (I think pullet)
2 - red (one was supposed to be red cuckoo but I can't tell for sure and one is small compared to the rest but healthy)
1 - black, I think pullet, and she is 6.5 weeks old, hatched 8/5

Have 2 laying hens, a black production (looks like a barred leghorn) and a wheaten Marans (she just stopped being broody and started molting so looks AWFUL right now but lays very dark eggs when laying)

I have a very, very nice and correct splash showgirl silkie roo I need move, too. I'm showing a couple silkies at the Tulsa State Fair next weekend and will probably bring him along if anyone is interested.

I am NPIP certified. Located in south Broken Arrow, can't travel too far. If you're interested in any pictures just send me a PM. Willing to be negotiable on prices because like I said, I have way too many right now.

I got a beautiful Cream Legbar a week and a half ago from Rinda. NanaKat, I had it in a small box with an opening it could get in and out of in my coop. The big chickens got it and and it has some really bad tears in its skin. I flushed it with saline, put betaine on it, then antibiotic ointment and a gauze bandage. She is sleeping - I put her foster Silkie mom I with her. Should I out the heat lamp on only? Should I put her on oral antibiotics? What do I do? (She can chirp and move all limbs...)

well, i have some of old totes, hd one girl that adored a card-board box, and they seem to like dog carriers too- get a tote, cut a hole in the side, pop the top on, add shavings and they love it-


Sad news here, lost my little Elliot over nite, didn't have him long but he sure left a hole in my heart

Are you wanting a single nest box to go in a broody pen or one of the nesting box units to hang on the wall?

For single units, I make my own from one sheet of 1/2 " x 4' x 8 foot plywood. The are 14 x 18 big enough for a large fowl bird with enough room for several chicks. If you will PM me your address, I'll mail you a copy of my cutting pattern. I use a circular saw but a jig saw would work. Last time I made any, I think I paid $26 for the plywood and used nails and screws I had on hand.

Im getting ready to make a nest box roost combo for the Bantam pen to get them ready for winter. Once I get that finished, I can send you that plan too.

I make mine out of the plastic storage tubs you can buy at Wal-Mart. Cut a doorway in the end, but leave a lip so they cant scratch the hay out, and cut some drainage holes in the bottom.

X2 be creative you can use almost anything- even a 5 gal bucket turned on it's side can work.
