***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Went to the local feed store tonight hoping to find some Easter Eggers but they were all sold out. So, being the smart shopper I am
I got some more bantams! Oh I'm a sucker  But they had frizzles!!! So, 1 black, 1 white, and 1 possible mottled (I doubt hatcheries carry frizzled mottled Cochins but my fingers are crossed) and 1 mystery chick. Well, looked it up and I believe my chick is a Serama, which is pretty intimidating. Is it possible to keep a Serama outside year round? Serama lovers please tell me how you keep them. We have a tiny house (super tiny house) which we absolutely love, but limits our ability to have indoor pets. I'll try to get a picture in a little bit but it's super cute, has the droopy wing thing and a super small comb :fl

Did they have them labeled as such? I can't tell anything by looking at a chick! Lol! I did think I saw a frizzle at Atwoods.

They were in the assorted bantam bin. Pretty easy to distinguish once you know what to look for. I love bantam Cochin so can usually pick them out and the frizzle makes it that much easier ;)

@kelielliott I think your polish is a roo. And it looks like your partridge does not have a walnut comb, that's maybe a rose comb. He's likely a mix if he doesn't have feathered feet.

Sorry, just catching up! I think too, that the partridge - as beautiful as he is - is a mix as I 'believe' (could be wrong) that the silkies do not have the big wattles. One of the white birds also seems to have a lot of hard feathers to his tail. My silkie roo tails are like puff balls with a few to maybe a bit more than a few streamers coming out.

I'm so bummed my black bantam Cochin frizzle hen that I stayed at the auction until 3 am to buy last summer was dead in the coop this morning. Hubby thinks a skunk got in there. Tonight i sent my son out to shut the free rangers in the coop while I was cooking and he came back and said they weren't out there. I'm missing 10 chickens.

That's so sad about your frizzle. Was she your only one? Did you get eggs from her? And I hope those 10 are just roosting up in the trees tonight. Would a skunk really take 10 in one day? Would anything besides a dog? Fingers are crossed they're just hiding.

Oh no! So sorry to hear about the frizzle.

Fingers are way crossed for those 10!

My Seramas do all stay inside, they'd freeze below 50 or so, they're like Chihuahuas :)
I can't imagine a feed store selling a Serama though. You can get an 18 x 30 cage and hang it so it won't take up floor space. Then just make sure he gets time out of his/her cage every day. They're awesome to wrap in a blanket and sit with. Not sure if you'd have that luxury with so many kids but I love that my kid raising days are over and I get to do it :-D

Definitely sounds like a predator :-( As many birds as I have it'd still be a hard hit to lose 10 at 1 time. I'm so sorry.

Maybe you're right, its doesn't seem especially tiny. Im going to look up breeds tonight. Anyone know what hatchery Atwoods uses? Im hoping its not a serama. They're super cute, but I dont think Im up for the challenge.
