***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Does anyone raise crickets? I have several cricket eating reptiles in my classroom and am tired of driving to petsmart every week. I am researching raising crickets but am not sure
Dubia roaches!! They're way better, cleaner and quieter than crickets, a lot more protein for insect eating reptiles. And making their simple habitats is easy fast and fun, the kids would love it. They're not the pest species of roach. I used to raise them.....I believe I've talked myself back into it for my indoor Seramas....

Now that you mention it, without any wing feathers, I can understand about no balance. He may learn in time and a lot of practice. You may have to A.I. or get someone that knows how, to get any of his babies.

Yes already planning on learning the fine art of chicken molesting........ um I mean ai.

Absolutely agree w/ Ksane, if raising indoor insects dubias are the way to go. Raising on a reptile feeding schedule would be a breeze keeping a small colony.

I'm trying to but have not had a lot of luck keeping the soil wet enough. i have a small gecko he is picky he won't eat wax worms or millies. he only will eat crickets and flies.

I do mealworms, they are very easy. But the Dubia's may be a better food source for you as others have mentioned.

X2 that came to my mind, too.

Haha!

I guess I'm raising crickets, and didn't know it. My yard is covered with tiny little crickets.

Today's the day... I've never had duck before so this is all new! Two 6 month old muscovy drakes, live weight 7 lbs each, dressed weight 4 lbs each, parted out 6 1/2 lbs total. The breast steaks are IMPRESSIVE. Going to do some crockpot, some as duck steaks, and the smaller pieces as fried duck.

Well, the Rudster got left yesterday by his, hotsy, totsy "woman". She didn't like the tied down life and left to pursue the party life w/ her gal pals and the big stud boy toys. He was crushed and is doing the treat call for the buns, but they don't seem to appreciate crickets.
