Had a surreal moment at my house today. Today was freezer camp day for a few young roos. I do everything in the house and garage. Gary turned on Pandora (tv radio) for me while I worked. So some of the boys were sent over the bridge to Disany musical music. Pretty sure that is how psycho's are made!

I managed to dig up a photo of my dog, Suka, from the Owasso Shelter's facebook page. Believe it or not, her mother was a husky, and I think her dad was a smooth fox terrier. Contrary to many peoples' guesses, I don't think she's got any collie in her. The head isn't long enough or narrow enough (as an adult) and her ears are button, not semi prick. Furthermore, she is very stocky built and behaves like a terrier or husky, not a collie.

anywho, without further ado, Suka as a baby!

She's now 2 years old. Very ornery, and aggressive, believe it or not!

Kass, I'm hoping "Thumbelina" and Rudy get over their shyness and become well acquainted soon. It will be so cool for him to have a buddy!

I have an 18 day old showgirl that is crowing! I've had a few others that crowed that young, but it's always startling. Of course, they are in a brooder only a few feet away, and their "crows" are kind of a strangled screech! First few times I heard that noise from a brooder, I thought one of the chicks was in extreme distress. This has to be the 18 day old, because there's no way I'd believe it could come from the 5 day old or the 6 day old. The SG was in a brooder until 6 days ago--removed to be a buddy for the 6 day old--that contained another 1 1/2 week old crowing cockerel! So it had a role model.

Sorry to read of your attack, NanaKat. I know how distressing that can be. We can think our pens are nearly predator proof, then get proven wrong.

I know I could probably do a search and find this info, but I'm feeling a bit lazy and figure someone here will be able to give me quick feedback. I'm contemplating buying some large fowl Polish eggs. Who has some experience with this breed? High maintenance? Egg production? Personality? Thanks!

I feed offal from processing to the flock. Well today I took some of the squishier parts and small parts aside for Rudy and Bella since she is so tiny I didn't want any big or hard parts like gizzard in their portion. (I have to admit I saved out a teste just for her, perverse I know, but poetic justice for the ladies). I wasn't sure what to expect since she is so tiny and so fluffy and so stuffed animal like, but as soon as I put it down she was all about it!!!!! At one point she had some blood speckles on that dainty little beak of hers.

She may have the look of a teddy bear, but she has the heart of a Dragon!

Betsy said she is a broody machine, but I can't imagine you could fit more then 2 maybe 3 eggs under her. She is very pretty even now, but she is going to be striking when she finished molting.

I do i love them,The only thing that is different maintenance wise is if you want to free range them you have to cut the feathers away from their eyes or they can't see flying predators, When they are young they seem a little skittish but when they are older they are very friendly. Egg production is on the low side mine have stopped laying for the year but when the days are longer they lay on a regular basis not sure like one every other day i think but it is hard to tell since they are not all on the same schedule, lol.
