***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@BetsyOK thank you so much for these lovely chicks! I love them so much, and your right about the 2 that look exceptional. :) geez I love partridge. And I feel so lucky to have gotten the silkie porcelain hen. She's beautiful. I'm smitten :) I hope you do well at the show, I think both your entries are stunning. I wish I could have stayed and helped you longer but I was already super late getting home thanks to getting lost soooo many times on my way there. And I managed to get lost 3 more times on my way home. For the sake of my chicken habit I need to get better at this whole driving thing. :/

I'm going to be at the show early tomorrow to meet Rhinda for some chicks. But right now the thought of driving to Shawnee sounds like slow torture. Anyway, hope to see some folks there, wish I could stay for lunch but hubby has to work so I have to hustle home (you know, not get lost)

Oh man Arlo feel in love with so many breeds, I'm tempted to get him a Serama rooster for inside. Arlo has mastered many chicken calls and actually sang the egg song to a rooster that then danced for him. That was a highlight. Poor kid tho; EVERYONE thought he was a girl. But I'm glad he doesn't cut his long hair-I love it!

@HeyBigRhondaq no problem on the chicks. It kinda helps me decide whether to breed the SFHs or not. I was already leaning towards no and just getting whatever breed I want as egg layers. My previous plan was to house SFHs with only colored egg layers so I would know which eggs to incubate. But this is way better, because I won't be limited to egg color. I'm pretty excited. Plus we eat about a dozen eggs a day here. I need layers!

My new single combed olive egger combo is going to be Barnevelder/Isbar. I'm curious how that will turn out--feather and egg-wise.
IMO they would be nice green layers not olive, as they won't have enough brown egg genes to truly make an olive color. If the Barnevelder egg color is anything like my barnies had. Typically olive only comes from very dark brown layers like Marans crossed with blue layers.

i have been crossing my fingers so hard hoping that i will make it to the show and lunch tomorrow. I'm in so much pain from the fibroid that started to act out that i am just losing my mind. thank goodness my husband is home for the next few days to help me but he goes to work on tuesday (in Wyoming for 2 weeks) and i have no idea how i am going to make it, take care of everyone and myself. AND i have 90 eggs incubating. worst timing ever!!

but the doctors can't do anything until the baby comes which is not for the next 7 weeks (if he comes on due date). uh oh its a mess.

so if you see a weird looking chubby girl with pink hair crawling around tomorrow don't pay much attention, its just me.

Awe, snag any of us if you need help! Heck we may even be able to pin down a wheelchair???

Hope everyone has a great time at the Shawnee show. One of my grand daughters isn't feeling well, so we're staying home to rest. Post lots of pictures. I will miss seeing everyone.

Does anyone know if betsy has a cell phone? I have her home phone line. If anyone knows and has her number please PM it to me. Or if anyone's at the show can they tell me if she will need help tonight? I feel so bad because I know she's not feeling well and has a lot to load up. I might just drive back up there if I don't hear from anyone. Know what time the show ends?

Thanks @NanaKat for the call! Sorry I missed you at the show. Can't wait to see the birds you got!

@lonnyandrinda I am loving these chicks already! The SFHs are just the perfect colors to add to our flock. I'm so grateful! And I really love the sapphire. I like the shape of her a lot. Also, I noticed she has a few little specks of color. :) love it! And it was very nice meeting you and your husband!

I tried to make it to the lunch but got lost. SURPRISE! We actually got lost every time we went and left. It was unreal. Am I the only one that thinks Shawnee is confusing??? Either way it was fun. I saw so many great birds. Arlo walked around with a camera taking pics of all the ones he wants. I can't wait to see the pictures :)

Awe I know she has one. Hope she got loaded up today OK. Sweet of you to offer to help! We had to get over to our shawnee beehives and then hurry home to get the kids. We decided to pull the Shawnee hives and bring them home, it's too far to care for them with Lonny working 60-70 hour weeks at his full time job. One of them is super aggressive so it will be requeened just as soon as weather allows.

Came home with WAY too many birds. Took a few pics at the show but can't share them from my tablet. Maybe I can sneak some time on the computer tomorrow after church. Came home with a pair and a trio from Betsy, two other silkie pairs from another breeder, a Langshan pair from mikaela in claremore she cleaned house with her birds at the show today. Just as we were leaving Lonny found a guy with black copper Marans pairs, point of lay, he had been selling them for $50 per pair and didn't want to take the rest home. We got 9 pullets and 8 cockerels and a large dog crate for $120! Some are culls for sure but if I can get 3-4 good birds out of it.

We didn't make lunch either bc we also got lost!
