The medicated feed you give chicks isn't a treatment, more like a precaution, and it won't do any good in a grown chicken with coccidia. The most common treatment is Corid, which you can get at Tractor Supply. If the Corid doesn't work you could have a resistant strain, and Sulmet would probably be your next best bet. A lot of people go straight to Sulmet.

thanks Kathy, yes she had been wormed with valbazen- very thin, something she had been battling for awhile, hadn't laid since last summer, almost think she had eyp- not sure, lost her last night- not really a surprise, but i sure hate it- i appreciate your suggestions and help she was a beautiful girl

I'm sorry for your loss! It sucks & if you're like most animal lovers we get so attached! I found one of my Buff Rocks dead the other morning & have NO clue what happened. No marks, no mites, nothing appeared wrong. I watch each bird every day looking for anything out of the ordinary & obviously missed something. Being a noob totally sucks & I feel guilty that I let her down. A guy I know said she was probably egg bound. She was frozen solid so I couldn't tell, although I tried to check.

Look what that goose did!!!

We think there's a baby elephant in there. At least my toddler is hoping so.

The Chinese white goose we rescued gave us 119 eggs before the coyote got her. I saved many of the shells to make ornaments by blowing out the insides. I gently made a hole at each end with an ice pick. Then enlarged the hole on the big end to about 1/4 inch. Using the ice pick I swirled the yolk inside and by shaking the egg I was able to the blow out the contents. The empty shells were then rinsed several times and soaked with a little bleach in the water and then allowed to dry. There are several threads on decorating goose eggs.
Goose eggs have a thicker white than a hens egg so I would use the contents instead of two eggs in a recipe or add a couple of chickens eggs for scrambling.

I live in Edmond, Ok and I have 15 Silkies. I started with 5 but the broody little hens immediately went to work and I had a backyard population explosion. At one time I had 5 adults and 23 babies. To keep my husband happy I gave away some of my chickens. I kept all the hens and a few roosters. I do have visitation rights to the others though because I am so attached to all of them. I have had multiple breeds of chickens including Buff Orpingtons (which I love) but I have to say these have been my favorite feather babies that I have ever had. They are sweet and smart and totally loveable. I did have a problem with some chicks having an issue with their feet but we taped them and most of them are better and all can get around fine. They also look like little drowned rats when they get out in the rain. They definitely do not like snow or ice which means I have to dig them out a spot before they will go outside. They also love to hang out with me when I work in the yard and will sit on the shovel while I dig. I actually had to buy a box of earthworms to replace the ones they ate when we tilled our garden. Overall I am very happy with them and enjoy their company so much.

Since Legg's now has large fowl Cochins, I wonder if they will test hatch rates with the larger hens in comparison to the Bantam.

she lost her roo a week and a half ago, i really think she just gave up- they were very close- on eyp, i have no idea what to look for, just that she had been wormed with valbazen, so the stop in laying made me think it may be that- also, poo with no urates?
