***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Sorry, but glad you got it out successfully you will know next time how to do it.  You gave it it's best shot.

Miohippus, I'm sorry your baby didn't make it. I should have my new chicken house ready for move-in by the end of this month, and I'll be able to set up breeding ]

thanks guys, it was from my bantum pen was curious what kind of babies I would get from my Cochins so when the silkie went Brodie I just let her have the eggs I guess I shouldn't have trusted a first timer.
Awesome kymette I can't wait, now if I could only find a silkie pullet for my daughter I would be all set ( for a while anyway, lol)

Love the crest on the first one and I'm not a big fan of fizzles but I do like the look of the red fizzle Cochins for some reason, lol they are both cute congrats

Unfortunately, I didn't use my own mixed eggs. I have some of my own bantam cochins, bantam cochins from another guy, the olive eggers, and some of my lavenders. I didn't spend any money on the eggs, most were given to me. But still nervous to gamble on them. Just gonna cross my fingers and hope for the best. If I get a few olive eggers and some frizzles I'll be happy!

MJ, she's beautiful. Glad you're getting really pretty showgirls and like them so much! The information you've gotten so far is correct. the NN gene is dominant, so if they aren't naked necked they don't carry the gene.

Does anyone happen to have quality showgirl chicks they'd want to trade for silkie/sizzles? This is the last batch Im hatching from my girls :( Anyway I wasn't planning on keeping any but all of a sudden I must have a showgirl! I have 1 bantam OE/SFH chick to keep it company. And if a trades not an option Im happy to pay!

Also I have a ton of supplies-waterers and feeders I don't need anymore. If there's anyone in need around me (Norman area) please let me know.

@All, what age do you butcher heritage breeds? Orpingtons in particular. Is 13 weeks WAY too early? I don't care if I have to use two for a meal, but would like at least SOME meat on the bone.

I need to get with you on feeders. My boys are buying show chickens so we will need yet another coop. I told my neighbors we are just bringing up property values!
