Roger and I went to the Cleveland County Poultry Show and had a good visit with BetsyOK. Her birds did very well in judging winning top honors...I'll let her brag.
Larry Dye had some lovely White Wyandotte and one of his pullets won Best in Variety, Best in Breed and Best American class. Also Carl Jarvis had some lovely Birken OEGB pullets that friends were showing for him. One won Reserve Variety and another was Reserv Breed.
Got to watch the Serama table top judging...what fun!
We also walked thru the Flea Market and found some of my Franciscan Apple dishes, a lovely Wedding Ring hand stitched quilt made from feed sack scraps, and a piece of Hall Jewel Tea. Roger found a few tools to bring home too.
I've been soooo tired, having not quite recovered from this bad upper respiratory infection and then dealing with 24 chickens in the car on the road to the show/sale, but not too much of a setback. Getting better again now.
My four show birds did well, and the top honor was Reserve of Breed--beaten out by a friend's beautiful black that went on to take Champion Featherleg. My blue pullet was in a cage on Champion Row for awhile, as they had asked for four representatives of several varieties of chicken to be used in a judging school/contest and our Silkie Awards Chairperson selected her as one of the silkies. Three of my four were from Jeansrie's flock that I'd gotten as small babes. They are awesome! One of hers--sister to mine--won best of variety to my also beautiful splash's reserve of variety. Jeanna is doing a great job with her chickens and did well at the show. Was nice to meet her mother.
Enjoyed visiting with several on here! Katherine, I appreciate so much your bringing the poppy seeds, and was trying to figure out how I was going to apologize for not getting home with them, when I made ONE LAST search for the packet and found them under the passenger seat in the car. What a relief! I know we'll enjoy them, and will sow them soon.
Rudy's pink pants!!! Can't handle it!
