***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The son in law got a 12 point buck this morning on our 160 in Prague. He gutted it and brought it to the house and we helped him hang it and clean it. He is going to have the head done English style...white skull with antlers. And I talked him in to letting me have the skin to have tanned for an ottoman. After trimming off the silver skin, there was over 50 pounds of venison...including tender loins, blackstrap, roasts and chunk meat. He is going to make sausage and jerky. I pressure cooked the trimmings for the dogs and chickens.
its been a long time since I even saw a 12 point! Congrats to him!

One of my workmates went on a car wreck, deer vs truck, the truck had a couple of thousand dollars worth of damage by the looks of it, but when the husband arrived on scene he was high fiving his wife, the deer was huge and had a massive rack of antlers. He was on the phone w/ the game warden before they even left the area. lol

Had to cull a young crossbreed meat rooster this evening for attacking a Buckeye hen that was refusing his overtures. He had her on the ground flogging her and she was actually screaming in terror. He had gone over a fence to get into her pen. This young fella had been on the next freezer camp list but this was just unacceptable behavior.

I had a bit of a drama yesterday, in my attempt to introduce Angelo to the main flock, one of the hens decided his mere presence was not acceptable and proceeded to attack - well, Angelo is such a gentleman he hid his face until it got real nasty and I stopped it- no - I can't let him be beat up- has stolen my heart with his sweet temperament, so I brought him back in an he is the winner of Minime- my petite cochin who has never been accepted by any of the groups I have tried to put her with- she finally has happiness in Angelo- no conflict other than the food bowl, he hasn't learned to share yet- LOL! so I will need to make a tractor for them- she didn't run and hide, and after 2 years she deserves a wonderful guy like that!

@kassandra Meanwhile, Ansel the seabright and snowflake will be integrated to the main flock - he has managed to keep snowflake from going broody since i put them together, so he will be a happy roo with a big group of ladies - chicken drama at its best! Sheesh!

Sounds like happy endings all around!

This sounds like my story here, just a week ago Friday I had a 8 point cross paths with my vehicle and it not only lost its life but it made my vehicle a total loss too. I was shocked to know that NY Troopers keep tags on hand to allow us to tag "fresh Road Kill" but sure enough they do. So as I am not happy about the Buck losing its life and I am without formal transportation for myself.. I rolled my eyes when the men folk were like HECK YEA we are bringing it home ...
