We had some excitement at around 2AM. Found a big possum in the coop. My rooster's eye is swollen shut and one hen is missing some feathers on her neck. She seems fine. He is a little subdued. No crowing this morning, but he's eating and drinking. The possum didn't fare as well. I can't seem to get pics to load from my phone. Made me think about people who live in town and can't grab the 22 when this sort of thing happens.

i had a hawk get after a turkey this morning. Had to be in a 15 min window when I wasn't outside. She's up and walking , tomorrow will tell.

Hope everyone's birds are healing from their predator attacks!

Had a nice visit with MJGigax yesterday. We exchanged some eggs and other goodies. Going to love setting out the salvia in the flower beds and watching those plum trees grow.
Sounds like Rebecca is doing good too since her surgery...takes time but time well spent.

We had two calves born yesterday afternoon...both are doing great. The overnight hatch so far has 13 chicks with many more pipped. Also in the brooder are two pheasants and four quail that hatched the day before.

Still working on taxes...don't know why it is taking so long this year over years past...but should be done by the weekend. My garden needs my attention and the yard needs mowing. I haven't set out the potatoes or onions yet and the English peas need to be planted....I'm way behind.

Today should be another beautiful day. Enjoy it!

Just an update on the poults, (a word which does not pass spellcheck)
lost four overnight night before last, but the two remaining have eaten down half of their feed dish and a third of their water - they are also making bigger poops than before. They are just over a week old- can I feed them tiny mealworms?

Nana, glad to hear the hatching and calving is going well!

Well, I thought I was going to get a new incubator for my classroom. My husband's car overheated this morning, so I think I will settle for an automatic turner for the one I have. Anyone have a used one they would be willing to sell at a good price? I'm in the Norman/Noble area.
