***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi..every one went to the swap at OKC sat it was so packd with peep at daylight they wer turning peep away all the stall's wer full ..
Lot's chicken saler's ..I away's meet lot's of new folk's an ask thim if they get on BYC most say no they never herd of it. But some have an
say they look on it all the time but never post.
Went to Blanch sale last night seen lot's of bycer's ther P.B an her bunch Eggman nocity okracefan modernman an wife oldtownchickens yoder auctionlover Al musky an manny more.
nocity got a good buy on some stockpanels 4x4 hole's in thim just wright for large fowl...
They had some nun pigoun's i thot no more peep than was ther i would get a good buy on thim but they went HI..
Lot's of game hen's an roo's to they went Hi for this time of yr..Blu toppy's an a nice golden gray roo you dont see thim much..

I'm having trouble getting motovated. Had really wanted to either mow or work in the garden, I've wandered out a few times and walked around it, but that's about it. So here I sit trying to talk myself into .................................................................... the dreaded ........................................................... (urhgggggggggg) housework. So far that has met the same success as the outside work.

Day started with the chicken pens, parrot pens and then preps for the kids coming to fish and picnic at the ponds. Had two loads of laundry to fold...got that done, then cooked hotdogs and chili for the chuck wagon run to the pond....too windy to start up the grill/smoker by the pond. Kids caught lots of bass, bluegill and crappie...and released them all. Fed the catfish.

When we came back to the house the boys trapped the white pigeon in the barn and let me know. Set up feed and water cups on the grow out pen with a perch. Roger and I were able to catch the bird. The pigeon is wearing a AU legband with this information: AU 2011 ADA 11154 I know that means the bird hatched in 2011 and is young which explains why it got lost. Going to check Foys.com to see what the ADA means. Beautiful bird. Besides the black on the tail feathers, there is a lot of black on the wingtips and just a few "smudgy" gray on the chest.

On close examination the bird is healthy but a little thin. I have it in one of the sanitized lovebird cages but I know it will need more room for exercise so will have to come up with a better enclosure...temporary....

I have a nutritional mix for the conures that probably has the peas and seeds the pigeon will eat. I'm going to add to that mix milo, wheat, crimped oats and un-popped popcorn. Is there anything else I should add to the diet for now?l

Because the pigeon was panting we brought the cage onto the back porch and it has settled down on the washing machine.

Gary got me two kiddie pools for my two experiments this year. He got a 5 footer I am going to use to float sheets of styrofoam and cups in, and plant it out w/ several types of seed (tomato, greens, pepper, squash, etc... as an experiment in water gardening the easy way (no moving water). He got me a 10 footer to grow some duckweed in, now I just need to find some duckweed. I'm also wondering if I could combine the two and float the seeds on a duckweed bed and let them root on that, well one step at a time.

NanaKat i no lot's of peep buy homer's an dont keep thim up long a nuff for thim to stay some will never stay an get lost ..Any way look's like you have a good mix's 4 your bird's.
I used to buy 2nd grade penut's for mine tel they shut down the penut house in Anadarko..They are to HI any wer els..

Hi Everybody!!!

Just been lurking the last week. School is finally out for the kids and now I really have to get my room packed and stuff moved out. I have one interview scheduled Tuesday and I hope another scheduled Wednesday.

Really would like to have a job lined up for next year before summer school starts.

Last night at Blanchard auction was okay. It was nice to hang out with Al (now the godfather of enablers) Maribeth, Dean, Mike and a others I am getting to

to remember their names. Okracefan, your brother was showing pics of your place. I am sorry for all the damage but am glad you and your family are safe. Sold some birds which paid for the nice nesting box I bought. Thanks Mike for the brahma pair. That rooster is so cool and had to put my millie fleur roo in his place. I can not wait to add Brenda, my other dark brahma hen to them. They will make a nice trio.

Well I hope everyone has had a wonderful day. I have fixed the fence, made a new feeder for the brooder and cut supports for installing new clothes hanging bar in my closet. Now going to get ready to go see my daughter. Going to watch Thor and get something to eat. I

my daughter and am glad she wants to hang out with her old mom still.
