Need Advice: the only chick that hatched from the "free" eggs has a cripled leg/foot. I put a boot on it to spread the toes like I do the lovebirds, but the knee joint is also affected. It's to days old and has five toes. It eats and drinks okay. Is there anything I can do besides exercise the joint several times a day? I know...some would cull, but it is active and is eatting,drinking, poopin and sleeping like a normal baby.....
Please describe how the joint is affected. If it is a slipped Achilles tendon because of an accident, it can be repaired easily. If it is congenital and one of hte other problems, chances are slim. With a slipped Achilles tendon, the chick will hold the leg almost normally except it won't put its foot down. If that's what it is doing, I can tell you what to try.
