***OKIES in the BYC III ***

HI all, I am going to be moving back home to Bixby from Alaska (whenever my house sells). I grew up in Bixby and my parents are still there. Is it legal to have chickens in Bixby? I think I heard Tulsa it's legal. I am guessing it also depends on if you have a HOA?

I am going to stay with my parents for a while and they can have chickens, they are out in the country no one will care. But eventually I want to get a house of my own for me and the kids and I have to make sure I can have chickens!

Also, we have several folks from Bixby and hopefully someone will be along this evening or tomorrow to give you their thoughts and experience with that city.

Hi all, nice grad/prom photos...noticed the shoes on the girl. LOL
I lost one of my young ameracauna babies today. I think it's the bad feed i got last time and refunded it but the babies got the squirties, or 1 or 2 did. I got a new feed but they've been slow to eat it maybe from all the heat. My NN's are doing great but this heat and humidity is making all the chickens pant really bad. I hope I don't lose any to heat stroke, had one yesterday that overheated. I put cool water on her head a few times and brought her in under the fans and she recovered and is eating ok today. I'm keeping her in since she's one of the babies I just put into the coop yesterday. I don't know if they'll be able to take this mid 90's heat or not & I don't have misters or even trees to shade the coop but I had dad put some tarp over the pen to make shade and the chicky girls do use it.
It's too HOT!

Our outdoor thermometer is registering 102 in the shade! I have been spraying down the floor of the hen house, the chicken run, the shade cloths and a few burlap bags hanging on the side of the grow out pen twice day. With the ground wet, the litte bit of breeze is cooler. I have a big industrial fan set up by the hen house door to draw out the air across the damp ground thru the windows. The girls quit panting. I've also put ice in the water containers.

This time when I went out, the Delaware hen has lost her whistle...will have to check her this eveing to see if the little buldge at her voice box is gone.

Well it is bloody well freakin hot here today!!! I lost one of my Cuckoo Marans Roos, One of my Red Quill hens(the one with biddies!) and one game chicks about quail size!!! I had to put down a small chick with a severly broken leg( just in fuzz stage!!!). Moved around a bunch of chickens and setting hens today. Took lots of pictures of birds and cages!!! I will start with my newest set of cages (as you all know I use pallets for cages!!!) Pics follow!!! Lynn
