Do you have a bagging lawn mower? If so just mow them and mulch the rest of your garden. Or put on the compost pile.
Nope don't have one, I live in the country & just let the grass fly. I do rake it for the birds and other stuff.
I had my tire tower set up on the south end of my house & it got full sun morning to sundown. I think I will have to re-think the location for it, although in the fall it won't be as hot. Do you plan to try yours again?
I use grass clippings for the garden, that is why I bag. I'm not sure if I am going to try again or not, if none of the others have any potatoes then definately not. We use so few potatoes I can't even get through a 5 lb bag w/o some rotting or rooting. I was going to experiment w/ preserving (dehydrating) if I got a good harvest. I think for us the energy, time, and expense would be best used growing something else.
I brought the Speckled Sussex sisters inside this morning. One of them had leg troubles as a chick, and the leg trouble seems to have reappeared. Only one is having trouble getting around, but they are buddies so I brought both in. After they've had some time to settle in after the stress of being caught and caged, I'll get the weak-legged one out and see if I can see what's happening. Betsy, I'm going to try to find your post on the slipped tendon treatment. A couple of days ago when this pullet was walking around more, I noticed that she picks her left leg way up high and sticks it out in front of her like a Turkish soldier before putting it down again.
good afternoon everyone. I have a question. Im wondering if you can kill a chicken to be butcherd an then put the dead bird in the fridge and then come back a week later and do the scalding and process then???
